Helen Pintea Hendon was the matriarch of our extended family, the oldest of seven. Along with my mother, Florence, the two sisters helped raise their five younger siblings, and assisted their immigrant parents cope with the hardest of times during the Great Depression. Helen left her loving family when she moved to Illinois to be with her husband but a piece of her heart was always here in Pittsburgh. She went on to be successful in her career and was an inspiration to her extended family. We will miss our "Auntie Helen", her beauty and style and love for the brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in her hometown of Pittsburgh. Rest in peace.
