Fefles, Helen Irene (nee Mitchell.) Helen Irene (late Thano), passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by the love and support of her family.She is survived by her children, Tina (Clem) Hajjar, Peter (Jeanette), Merri (Sean). Helen was blessed with loving grandchildren, Elena, Billy, Eleni, Mia, Thano, Zoe and George.She joins her father, Peter and Mary Mitchell and is survived by her brother, George (Mary Kay). She was a proud aunt to George, Mary, Greg, Michael and Charlie and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews both here and in Greece. Helenwas an exceptionally strong, vibrant, intelligent and witty woman.No matter what trials befell her, she always bounced back with a mixture of grace and humor. Her strength gave others strength and she was a loyal friend to many. Helen was a lifelong member of the SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church senior choir and director for 20 years. She was an inspirational educator who taught in the Chicago Public School system but most notably at Koraes Elementary School for many years.She will always be missed and never forgotten.
