Helen Ciesla (nee Szymanski), 97, of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, passed away on
Monday, April 26, 2021, at home.
Helen was born in Newark, grew up in Irvington, educated by Felician sisters and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School. She lived in Newark before moving to Point Pleasant Beach about 30 years ago.
Prior to her retirement Helen worked at Western Electric in Kearny as an office manager in a job she loved. Helen or “Aunt Helen” as she was known to her many friends and family engaged in extensive volunteer work for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, St. Peter's R.C Church, including the Rosary Society, and the Red Hat Ladies social group. She loved her travels to Rome, Poland, Las Vegas and, of course, Atlantic City! She would often be seen parking cars on her lot at Central Avenue, interacting with visitors and neighbors alike. Her outgoing personality, generosity, faith and sense of humor served her well and were appreciated by many. She will be greatly missed by all!
She was predeceased by her husband, Casimer R. Ciesla, in 1998. She was also predeceased by her five brothers: John, Casimer, Bruno, Stanley and Richard Szymanski, her three sisters: Louise, Josephine and Victoria Szymanski, and her niece, Marion Szymanski Benner.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews: Frank, Donald and Heidi Szymanski, Ann Cramer, Mary Sarian and Sharon Washick and Andy Ciesla, and many other great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday 11:00AM at St. Peter’s RC Church, Pt. Pleasant Beach. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory to St. Peter’s RC Church, 406 Forman Ave., Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742 would be appreciated.

Helen was my friend for over 50 years. My family and I were blessed to have her in our lives and miss her very much. It is still so difficult to pass her house and know that she is no longer with us.

May God Bless my Aunt Helen. She has now returned to God and is reunited with her husband, my Uncle Casey. Aunt Helen and Uncle Casey were a huge part of my life. Casey was my dad's best friend and brother and his wife Helen and Uncle Casey were in my life for as long as I can remember. Every birthday, every holiday, my first communion, my confirmation sponsor, summers at the parking lot.....the list of memories are unending. I was with Helen at Brick Hospital in 1998 when her husband passed and his last words to me where "Please take care of Helen for me, she is a great gal". I pray and hope that I lived up to his expectation. Helen and Casey you will be missed; and now it is your turn to look down on our family and take care of us. God Bless.

We wish to extend our deepest condolences to Helen's family. Helen was my supervisor at Western Electric and we soon became close friends and she was an integral part of our family. We have very fond memories of Aunt Helen at our family barbecues, weddings, christenings of our children, Michael and Christine and grandchildren, Jake and Ryan. We all enjoyed watching the parades and fireworks with her on her porch, going to the Shrimp Box and receiving her handmade sequin calendars ! She was a true and dear friend of ours for over 50 years and we will cherish her memory with love. We were blessed to have had her in our lives, and she will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace. With sympathy and profound sadness, the Rumain family, Tom, Elaine, Michael and Christine.
