Its hard to believe youre gone that long. Miss you brother.

You treated me like your young brother back in the times of the Harvey Lumber Co, where we both worked. Thank you for taking care of me when I was a young immigrant. I learned much from you. Perhaps we will meet again. Hasta la proxima.

Hector, you were a true gentleman and lived your life in an admirable way. You looked out for family and friends, placing their needs ahead of your own. I only wished you had more time to enjoy your retirement and the love of all that have honored you here. Your suffering is now over, and may you rest in peace. Adios mi amigo.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember meeting Hector a few years back on Taylor St. We started talking about how the neighborhood use to be when we were growing up. We haven't seen each other in quite awhile. I'm so glad to have known him. He will always be remember.

My beloved brother Hector,
A new life has been born into our Familia, a beautiful baby boy named Joaquin Hector Geronimo Rivera the son of our Godson. In the same instance I have lost you a beloved brother /friend who has transitioned into eternal life. How is it that within this short span of time the feeling of total elation and profound sadness has overcome me? The lost of you in our lives has overwhelmed me, and as I sit back and think about our many conversations, and I hear you say choose Amanda choose……………….
So I have decided to choose and I choose to be elated, I choose to feel joy and unbridled happiness because I have had the gift, the blessing to know you an amazing man. Ever since I could remember growing up as a little girl on Taylor Street there was always you, always with a ready smile and that contagious laughter after telling one of your jokes. Warm and funny always more concerned for others never giving a thought for yourself, always putting your family needs and the needs of those you loved first.
So my beloved brother I am closing my eyes and thinking of our visits to the Bahia Temple surrounded by beauty and tranquility a symbol of tolerance and faith a true reflection of you. Thinking of the many times you would twirl me around the dance floor. Writing to me about your many travels and sharing your experiences because you have been a man of true compassion, steadfast and loving, never judgmental, excepting and kind.
I thank God for the gift and the blessing of you. Rest now Mi Hermano querido, I will see you again on the other side. I will continue to pray for the Familia to find solace in God's grace. I will rejoice for the new life within our family who will bear his Nino's name.

Weapons cannot hurt the Spirit and fire can never burn him. Untouched is he by drenching waters, untouched is he by parching winds. We loved him as a brother. He will live in our memory as long as we live.

The Hector I knew was a kind and generous man, ever inquisitive to know and learn more about people and subjects of interest. Hector passed early in his life one could call it in a way sad and unexpected; this is part of the mystery of life we all live. I will be one who will dearly miss him.

Once again, and inexplicably, we suffer the loss of an individual whose presence in this world impacted positively and profoundly on so many others. Hector's support, love and guidance will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones. It's a sad shame that you left us all so soon. Safe journey … Yamil E. Colón

Looking at Hector's picture, I just shake my head in disbelief. Hector was an excellent human being. He fought so hard to live. Words fail me. My thoughts and prayers are with Hector and his beautiful family.

I am very sorry to hear of Hector's passing. I thought of Hector as a very good friend.

I'm so sorry to hear of Hector's passing. May the light of the Lord shine on his spirit always. My deepest smypathy goes out to Sra. Esther and the entire family during this sad time. May you find peace in your loving memories of Hector always.

I was so sad first to hear that Hector was ill, so soon after he retired from IDPR, where we sat next to each other for years. And then to hear now that he has passed away is very sad. There was so many things he was going to do and enjoy after he stopped working. Rest in peace, Hector, and sorry that I am out of town now and can't attend your wake and funeral...

Hector was truly an honorable man with tremendous integrity. Hector would always go out of his way to assist a friend. Hector was always gracious and polite which was ingrained in his personality. Condolences to the Santiago family and know that Hector touched many lives and will be sorely missed by many.

The peace and love of our Lord be with the Santiago family during these solemn days. The last time I saw Hector was at his place of employment while visiting my brother who also worked there! This was over 10 years ago!
