I was 16 years old and took drum lessons from Harry. I remember his kindness, patience, sense of humor. His acceptance of me regardless of my life situation taught me how to treat others. This and my live for music got me through some challenges. Thank you Harry!!

Harry was a great guy and a wonderful music teacher. Some of my best memories are taking Guitar Lessons from Harry and his son Bob. Harry will be missed but I'm sure he's making music for God!!!

Thanks to all who attended the memorial mass for my dad on August 20. It meant a lot to all of us to see so many faces from Harry's past, both family and friends. Please continue his legacy with a song in your hearts and a smile for someone along your path.

I can't believe Harry is gone. He was such a great teacher and person. His sense of humor made me laugh on numerous times. I have such fond memories of lessons with him and of the IABA. I remember making a bet with him that I won. He still owes me a gallon of icecream!

I remember going up to visit Grandma and watching the Waltons while I waited for my turn for lessons.

Harry will be missed for sure. Heaven just got a great musician and person.

My condolences to the family and I will be there to honor Harry at his memorial.

Dear Mrs. Grebb and Family,

I was very sad to hear about Harry. I constantly still talk about him and I still have all of my throphies from the Music Contest days. I never got in with the right bunch of fellows, just like the group Bad Company's song, Taking Care of Business, that we played all the time, but, I still play my drums everyday and have all of my music with Harry's writing on it. I am now teaching my son, Mario, Jr. with the same music.

I will be at the Memorial on 8/20/05 at St. Mary's in Bridgeport and hope to see everyone there.

My prayers and thoughts are with all of you and espiecally for Harry, one of the best gentleman that I have ever known.

Very Truly Yours,

Mario C. Aguinaga, Sr.

To the Grebb Family: I am so sorry to hear about Harry. He was a very interesting man and I'm know he had a great, long life with his family. Harry and his band played at my wedding 42 years ago and I've never forgotten how great they were. I also dated Bob for a short time while in High School.

Dear Mel Grebb and Family,

I was sad to hear of Harry's passing. He touched my life so deeply with his music skills and cheerful personality. I remember taking guitar lessons from Bridgeport Music Studios back in the early 70's, while my sister Mary took piano from Mel. I also have fond memories of competing in the I.A.B.A. state competitions and enjoying the "battle of the bands" on Saturday night. Bridgeport Studios always seemed to win...due greatly to Harry's talent. Harry made such an impact on me that here I am 25 years later, with my own music school in Canaryville. I modeled our teaching style much after the way Harry taught me. I want music to be fun, the way Harry made it fun.

I hear that there may be a memorial tribute to Harry soon, and I would love to be of any assistance I can.

Again, my deepest condolences to the Grebb Family,

Sincerely,

Mark & Torri D'Asto

Dear Mel,Bob,Marty and April

It's hard not to repeat all the kind words and what has already been said, but Harry made a lasting impression on not only his students but everyone he came in contact with. I still have fond memories of all the recitals at Gage Park and the Saturday student band rehearsals. It seems I encounter someone on a daily basis that was either a student, or a student of a student of Harry's and that only emphasizes the impact Harry had on those that he touched. On behalf of my dad (Gene), who was a bandmate of Harry's, my brother (Bruce), also a former student, and my wife and daughter (Michelle & Ashley), Harry will truly be missed. See you soon, love.....Ron

Dear April, Marty, Bob and Aunt Mel,

Just a note to let you all know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, even though I can't be.

I can't imagine how you are all feeling because we all deal with these situations in our own way and I have yet to lose someone that close to me. Probably the most difficult part of the loss will be accepting the finality of not being able to connect with that person on a physical level. It was very important to me to visit with Uncle Harry when I drove Amanda out. When his condition had deteriorated I knew that I had to have one more contact while he was still alive for me to feel ok. I didn't want to live a life of regret for not taking the opportunity to let him know my appreciation for him as a man, my uncle and my Godfather.

I have many memories of him to carry me through life and to pass on to others by emulating and living as he did. His strength and conviction to do his best and to do for others was an inspiration to Christian ethic. His love of music and his ability to pass that on will always leave a song in my heart. The music in my life led to many friendships and associations that have and will continue to affect who I am. His love as a father reinforced the importance of family. In his declining years, his attitude inspired me to never take life too seriously and to never take today for granted. Whenever I would see him and ask how he was doing, the response inevitably came back "Doing geat man, can't complain" and he didn't. His legacy for me , is to live up to the standard he set and not look back with regret. I'll miss being able to touch him, but I'll never miss what he left me.

Love,

Peter

Well heaven is rockin tonight. Just heard of Harry's passing from Uncle Sonny who lived across the street from Harry&Andy& the "tailor lady",Mrs.Grabowski.Last saw Harry when my grandfather died.Harry ran across the street to give my grandmother a big hug and to ask how his favorite "rockin' grandma was holding up (Emily Grisco). My dad was Gene Jarzen(czka)and mom is Marian Jarzen(grisco). Dad drummed with Harry and Krupa in the old days; mom hemmed coats and worked for Mrs.Grabowski-the commute was easy, she ran across the street. It was a good neighborhood with good loving people. Harry played at my wedding 7/14/78. When Harry's 4 piece band played the theme song from "Rocky",people from other rooms came to listen and applaud. He was a great man with a great gusto for living. He's a person that you're so glad you had the chance to know. Mel -so sorry for your loss;kids - you had a phenomenal father;Andy -Sonny can't find you since you left Bridgeport-he is sorry for your loss as well. You are all in our prayers. We are all so blessed to have had Harry in our lives. Left email address if anyone would like to contact and if there is anything we can do,please let us know. God bless you all.

Dear Mel, Marty, Bob, and April,

I was very sad to hear of Harry's passing. My blessings are with you.

I will always have fond memories of Harry and his family especilly the years in the 50's when I watched "Big Daddy",Jimmy Dee and my father Gene Walters play in thier group at various functions like Company picnics and at the Cameo Lounge on Western Avenue.

I took up playing the sax because of Harry , I was facinated with watching him play. I studied with Harry at the Bridgeport Conservatory up until the early 60's and I will always remember the Spring Concerts he put on at the Gage Park Field House, especially the time I had to let Marty use my horn because his was not working.

I wish Harry could have made it to my Dad's 80th birthday party in 2003 when he was back in the Chicago area, but he took ill at the time. It would have been great seeing him again.

Thanks for the Memories Harry

I was very sad when I heard of Harry's passing. But then I suddenly realized that our dear friend, "Big Daddy", was joining Bob's little orchestra in heaven. May God keep you and the family in His care.

To My Other Family

I have known all of you for almost 40 yrs., and I have been showered with love by each and every one of you - especially by my "real" Dad, Harry, my "Daddy-O". I always felt so special when he would introduce me as his "other" daughter. He always rooted for me as an aspiring drummer, and held me tight in my greatest time of loss.

You are always forever in my heart.

I love you........

Marty and Family,

Our heartfelt sympathies are with you during this difficult time. Having been a lifelong fan of Marty's work and influence on the success of many others, I still recall when I was a member of a band (highschool) with Tim Cetera. I called you on several occasions when you resided on Irving Street in Blue Island,IL. From our first conversation I recall your mentioning of the enormous support you had recieved from your father, a man of music with incredible talent and wisdom of his craft. This was one of the first and foremost things you related to me that I felt privileged to hear. Marty Grebb was never too busy to talk to one younger, perhaps striving, to be as talented. This unselfishness undoubtedly was something you learned from your father. God rest your father and God bless your family.

To Marty & the rest of the family, my sincere condolences. I lost both my parents last year so I know the feelings you now have. Can't belive its been almost 50 years since I bought my first set of Drums at your Father's conservatory of Music in Bridgeport, and later listened to him when he played at that lounge on South Western Ave.

Good memories. Warmest Regards, Ron
