Hannasue Steel Obituary

HANNASUE STEEL Hannasue "Gaga Sue" Steel, 90, lived a rich, full life, one marked by faith, love and laughter. All who met her were touched by her zeal for life --"Gaga Sue loves life" as she approached each day with a sense of adventure and openness for the next challenge life presented. Hannasue was a resident of Leisure World from 1974 until 2004. She was a member of the Geneva Presbyterian Church and volunteer at Saddleback Memorial Hospital for 30 years. An inspiration to people of all ages, she was honored with the "Capturing the Spirit" award for more than 16,000 hours of volunteer service at Saddleback, more than any in the hospital's history. She went to heaven on July 2, one week short of her ninety-first birthday. Gaga Sue loved life to the fullest and rather than counting the days, she always made the days count. Hannasue is survived by her daughter Wynne Tartre of San Diego and her son David Steel, Jr. of Vashon Island, WA, her six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all who knew Hannasue would celebrate her life by pursuing her motto to "love life" and pursue laughter and adventure.

I knew her as "Auntie Sue", my great-aunt, and will remember her wonderful stories and amazing energy. I wish I had had the opportunity to know her better than I did.

What an inspiration she was at Geneva Presbyterian Church and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. I will remember her lovely hats and warm smile.

Gaga Sue was simply THE BEST!

We miss her so much but are comforted knowing she is with the love of her life, our grandfather David Steel.
