Dear Paul, Margaret and the gantseh mishpachah --
I was out of town when Mr. Lurie died, or I would have come to the funeral and shivah. I remember him so well from Rachel'a, Dan's and Matt's Bat/Bar Mitzvah celebrations ---especially at Dan's, when the proud grandpa led an enthusiastic cheer in honor of Dan. I was seated at the luncheon with Lloyd and Marcia and they told me your father/grandfather had actually BEEN a cheerleader in high school. Lloyd also related the story (which I found so funny that I have repeated a number of times in various circumstances) of when your mother was pregnant with Lloyd ---and still working with your father in their customary way that didn't reveal to business colleagues that they were married---and someone came in and asked your father, "Who knocked up your secretary?" And he answered, "Oh, I did." He was such a lovely man, a real original, who passed on a wonderful legacy to you all. He was a blessing in life and may his memory continue to be. Shalom, Kate Kinser

To the Lurie Family,
Please accept my condolences and prayers at this sad time. I had the honor of working for Mr. Lurie as a clerk while I was in law school in the 70s, and he was truly a gentleman. I know he will be deeply missed.
