Durrance, H. A.
June 23, 1925 - Sept. 11, 2011

H. A. (Laddie) Durrance passed away, peacefully at home Sept. 11, 2011. He was born in Bradenton, Fla. June 23, 1925. He was a third generation Manatee County Native.
He is survived by wife, Julia, sons Hank (Susie), Buck (Chevelle) and is preceded in death by son, Buddy and parents Harry and Faye Durrance. He leaves grandchildren Savannah (Justin) Goss, Trent Durrance, Chisum Durrance and Jessica McVey, and two great-grandchildren, Blaine and Bailen. He is also survived by brothers, Donald (Christine), Ned Durrance and sister Pat Rich.
Laddie was a Church Deacon, choir director, and Sunday school teacher at Gillette Baptist Church where he was a member for 48 years. Laddie was an Army Veteran.
Laddie was a long-term member of both the Manatee County Farm Bureau and Manatee County Cattlemen's Association where he served many years as first vice-president.
Also, in his commitment to the community, he served on the City of Palmetto Planning and Zoning Board for thirty years, several times as chairman and vice-chairman.
As well as being a well-known rancher he was a long time Palmetto businessman most remembered as the owner of the Palmetto Shell and Unocal Station.
He loved his family, the Lord, the land and his country.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 14, 10-11 a.m. with service following at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Gillette. Memorial Donations may be made to the Gillette Baptist Church building fund. Arrangements by Griffith-Cline Funeral Home.

My deepest sympathies to the Durrance family. I have great memories of the sweet, sweet man we called Uncle Laddie. May God bless and keep ya'll in His love.
