Gregory Matic Obituary

Matic, Gregory Paul 56, longtime resident of Kenilworth, entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2009. A graduate of University of Illinois (B.S. 1975) and Boston University (J.D. 1978), he went on to a prominent career as a businessman and successful real estate developer in Chicago and the northshore. Greg was a current member of the Planning board of Kenilworth, and the Lumen Cordium Society of the Archdiocese of Chicago, past President of the Kenilworth Club, former head of the Kenilworth United Fund, former religious education teacher at Ss. Faith, Hope and Charity parish, and he was instrumental in spearheading the restoration of the Kenilworth Club. His passions in life were his family, travel, golfing, art, and ballroom dancing. Greg was a beloved husband and soul mate to his wife. He was a devoted father to his children, serving as coach for many sports teams and enjoying many years of involvement with the boy scouts. He had a generous spirit and touched the lives of countless individuals. Beloved husband of Karen L. Matic nee Smith; Loving father of Stephen (Agnella) Matic, Lauren (Matteo Gastel) Matic, and Claire Matic; proud grandfather of Leopoldo; devoted son of Rita and the late Luke Matic; dear brother of Pamela (Chip) Carner, Christine (Mike) Endres, Kathy (Bill) Kalnes, Rosemary (Tom) Morris and the late Mary Alice (Larry) Niemann; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, August 21 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd. at Old Orchard Rd. Skokie. Funeral Mass Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. at SS. Faith, Hope & Charity Church, 191 Linden St. Winnetka, IL 60093. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Greg's name to the Lumen Cordium Society of the Archdiocese of Chicago, 835 N.
