Merrie, I just got your xmas card and you told me of his passing which I did not know about. I also met him at the old St. Catherines and he made our lives there full of joy and laughter. I will always remember your one xmas card when you both were Mr.& Mrs. Santa Claus and I thought you both looked fantastic. When I started to see you both again when I worked at a doctors office he went to, I was happy to see he was married to such a wonderful woman. I feel you were the strength behind his wonderful silliness. My heart goes out to you and your family and I am sorry I did not know about this sooner. You know we even came back and looked for you because we had decided we were interested in your house after all, but you were already gone. I am sorry we did not get to enjoy more of your company as a couple, but I was happy to know you both.

We have gone thru so much together. You are truly a blessing to me and I love you so much. We have been there for each other so many times. Especially when we were working and I could always tell when you were not feeling well. How many times you forgot to take your bs before eating. I remember the good times the laughs remember "califlouder" that always made you laugh and the the song "were wolf in london" I alway thought the words were "where which a wonder" lol I never knew the words until you said what they were. Greg I prayed with you and I am glad you are in heaven! Please give my brother Gregory a hug for me and my father I miss them so much. You are missed so much but your spirit your smile your kindness and love will always be with me. You touched so many lifes Greg so many!!!! O'Leary is doing well also Greg. Twenty years. Twenty years of love, laughter and yes tears. That's what my sister, Merrie Lynn, generously allowed me to share with them. Greg was the brother I never had and the wonderful thing about him is what you saw is what you got. Family meant everything to him and he especially loved his children and their families. The times we spent in the pool doing our "senior exercises" still make me smile. He loved his little house "up nort" and felt at home in it from day one. He and Merrie Lynn made such a wonderful couple. So much love there. Greg you will be missed forever and will never be forgotten. Give my son, Glenn, a hug for me. God speed my dear brother.

What kind of a guy always has a smile on his face? You'd think either he's nuts or on great drugs....Greg was neither. Not many people can say that they're happy and mean it. He could. Why was he happy? He met the love of his life twenty years ago ... My mom, Merrie. Later Dude

Death is that final separation from all we have worked for, all that we have built up, all that is near and dear to us. It is too bad that dying is the last thing we do because it could teach us so much about living.

Greg, you knucklehead, I'm gonna miss you a lot! You are one of my best friends! We first met at the old St. Catherine's hospital (one of the best places in the world) about 30 years ago. We became friends immediately. We worked together, fished together, went to baseball games together, went to the Oshkosh air show, went to Milwaukee Admirals and Chicago Blackhawks hockey games together, and we watched many a Blackhawk game on TV together. And the list goes on.... We joked a lot, laughed a lot, you introduced me to "mystery meat" at White Castle on Addison street in Chicago on our way to a Blackhawks game at the old stadium (oh, what memories!), you told me a lot of stories about your past as we reminisced together. WOW, I could go on and on.... Well my friend, your memory and the times we shared together as friends will be alive in my mind and with me forever. I will always remember your crazy grin and goofy laugh. I will always treasure the times we shared together as good friends. Greg, rest in peace my friend.

Merrie, may the Lord send you an abundance of love and peace. I hope all the best for you and your family.

Love,

Along time ago in 1970 Greg and I were married. For Greg and I it was many lives ago. It makes me smile to read all of these lovely remembrances of him from friends, co workers, etc…! It is soooo Greg. I met Greg thru my brother, who was his boss in the produce dept at National Tea in Belvidere Mall. Then one night I was with my brother “scooping the loop” and that is when we began dating. Oh the times we had…it was the 70's after all! Between the MG and the motor cycle we had one crazy ride. We eventually got married and had 2 boys, Kris and Ian. Sadly we did get divorced but through the years and all the ups and downs we still kept in contact. Although our lives took different paths, I am so happy he eventually found Merrie and spent the last 20 or so years of his life with someone you loved and who loved you. I have so many crazy memories of our times together back in the day. For those of you who knew us back then you remember we had the house that rocked! Greg was always a fun loving, giving and partying kinda guy. I know that will continue for eternity. He is that fun loving person making all the people he meets up there laugh with his antics and big heart while looking down on us every day. Peace to you and hugs to all you meet!

I knew Greg for many, many years. He was one of the those people that could always make others laugh, especially when he did his 3 Stooges antics. I am so happy to know that Pastor Paulson was with Greg in his last hours. He loved Ironwood and I'm sure he is up there in spirit. Merrie, I send you much love and that you will be lifted up on angel's wings and comforted. Robbie

Leave it up to Greg to write his own obituary. He was quite a character. I worked with Greg in the ER at St Catherine's. No matter how crazy or hectic it was if Greg was working we always had fun. He could always make me laugh. We were both from Waukegan and loved the pizza at the Quonset Hut. One day we took two of our friends ( Mary and Marilyn ) to check out the Quonset Hut. Greg picked us up in his convertible. We were wind blown all the way to Waukegan, but did we have a great time. The last time I saw Greg was 2/1/13. My husband and I had taken our son to the Olive Garden for his birthday. As I was leaving I heard someone call my name. I turned around and there was Greg with a big smile on his face. He said " I thought that was you" and gave me a big hug. It was cold and he didn't have a coat on so I said you better get inside. That was Greg-he didn't care that he was cold because he was saying hi to a friend. You will be missed 'buddy'. And to Merrie- you have my deepest sympathy. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Merrie, I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. Greg was a bigger than life character. Always a great smile while chewing on a twizzle stick. Greg Kazian was my grandfather and a very dear man to me and my entire family, and I will say that many tears will be shed over the loss of such a wonderful man, but we all know that Greg, or Papa, in my case, will always be here with us. He was always involved in my life and my younger brother's life, and although I or him will be able to press a kiss to his cheek or spend a summer day swimming with him again, we will always remember the good memories we shared with him; We both got lucky to get such an amazing grandfather.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My deepest sympathies to Merrie and Greg's family. I was lucky to work with Greg almost 14 years. He was always funny, compassionate and super-cool. Whenever I see tie-dye I think about his homemade socks. But more than the dog noises and Elvis impersonations, what I will remember most was his utter devotion to his wife Merrie. He called her his best friend and never mentioned her name without saying how lucky he was to have found her. A man who knows gratitude for the love in his life, that is a real man. That is my friend Greg. That is why I will miss him so much. All my best thoughts on this very sad day of loss. See you on the other side, Friend.
