LYNNFIELD — Gordon "Vic" Campbell, 79, beloved husband of Florence (Viglirolo) Campbell, died Saturday evening, April 18, 2009 at the Hunt Retirement & Skilled Nursing Center in Danvers following a long illness.
Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, he was the son of the late Calvin and Rose (Conway) Campbell. He lived there several years, and then moved to Somerville as a young man. He lived in Lynnfield for many years. Mr. Campbell entered the United States Army during the Korean War, and organized the Motor Pool while stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He applied his passion for auto repair owning his Texaco Station and Gulf on Route 1 for years, and his last location was Sunoco on Lowell Street near the High School. He was a Service Station Proprietor for 45 years before retiring. He loved animals, helping people however he could, and was dedicated to solving many auto repair issues.
He is survived by his wife, Florence (Viglirolo) Campbell of Lynnfield, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage; a son, Gordon Campbell Jr. of Lynnfield; one daughter, Donna Campbell of Topsfield; two grandchildren, Gordon Campbell III and Nicole Campbell, both of Lynnfield; he leaves his brothers and sisters, Davis, Sanford, Margaret Rose Hannson, Brenda Connell, and the late Mabel, Buddy, and Winston all of Canada, and many nieces and nephews.
