Gloria A. Novotny, 93, of Cicero, IL, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023. She was born on August 5, 1930, in Chicago, IL. Gloria was a fun-loving and social woman who had a zest for life, a vibrant spirit and was known for her welcoming nature.

Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Gloria was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was adored by her children, Janet Baurle (Brian Fillebrown), Kenneth (Mary) Novotny and Nadine (Thomas) Cound. Gloria's legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Erin (Robert) Dunsworth, Brittany (Matthew) Kooi, Kenneth E. Novotny, Hailley Cound and Liam Cound, and her great grandchildren Evelyn Dunsworth, Lucy Dunsworth, Lincoln Kooi and Antonia Kooi. She was also a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a pillar of love and support to her family, and her presence will be deeply missed.

In her youth, Gloria excelled as a gymnast, showcasing her grace and athleticism. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, and dancing. Known for her culinary skills, Gloria was an excellent cook and gracious hostess. One of her greatest joys was preparing delicious meals for her loved ones and hosting large holiday feasts. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where family and friends gathered to create treasured memories. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph E. Novotny; her dear parents, Laddie and Lillian (nee Sushan) Bilek; and her cherished sister, Arlene (Leonard) Santowski.

Visitation: Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, located at 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL 60130. A funeral Mass to celebrate Gloria's life will be held at St. Bernadine Catholic Church, located at 7246 Harrison Street, Forest Park, IL 60130 on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. With an Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery located at 1400 S Wolf Rd, Hillside, IL 60162.
