Dear Al and Jennifer,
I just heard the sad news about Gloria today. I will always remember her bubbly personality and how she always greeted everyone with a smile. It was a pleasure working with her at St. Gregorys. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I worked down the hall from Gloria at Swedish Covenant Hospital.

I knew she was very sick and had been in the hospital for some time. I had wanted to visit her but knew she would not have wanted that - to be seen in such a way. I was on a plane reading a newspaper when I came across her obituary. My heart just sank and I spent the rest of the flight thinking of her. I fondly remember the many many conversations we had, especially those of the giant blow-up holiday lawn figures she loved. Brings a smile to my face even now.

I hope it will give Gloria's family some solace knowing that so many of us have thought about her during her illness and are thinking about her now.

Al & Jennifer,

At the last moment, I simply had to follow my heart and attend the church service for Gloria on Friday morning. As it turned out, I was seated with staff members from both the current Development Office and the former Development Office of Swedish Covenant Hospital. Gloria was such a key member of the Development Office for so many years, that it really made me feel like I was simply holding Gloria’s seat for her. (No one will ever fill it).

I wanted to write and thank you (and, I’m sure, other members of Gloria’s family) for the incredible way you captured Gloria’s joyful personality, special warmth, love of life and humorous spirit at the memorial service you held for her on Thursday evening. No one that saw Gloria decked out in her Beatles shirt, casual jacket and oh-so-Gloria accessories could stop from smiling. You found a way to reach people through their sadness and tears and give them one more precious moment that was pure Gloria. Thank you for that. And God bless you, now and always, for being the special people you are. Gloria will live on in our hearts…forever. She wouldn't have it any other way.

Gloria was a wonderful person and co-worker at Swedish Covenant Hospital. Since our two offices were next to each other, I saw her frequently and enjoyed her great smile and laugh, love of life and genuine kindness; I called her my Gloria in Excelsis! She often shared the fun she had attending the many concerts and club appearances she enjoyed so much. Everyone she came in contact with loved and appreciated her and the way she brightened all our lives. May you, her family, find peace and comfort in knowing how proud she was of you and the joy she found in each day.

Joan Cowie Manning and myself stopped by last evening to pay our last respects to Gloria. We all were Class Of 1969 classmates and friends together, and Gloria will really be missed. I was in Freshman Homeroom with her, and I was struck then and continued to be in awe of her friendliness, hard work, passions, wonderful laugh and sense of fun. Gloria, you will really be missed.

My deepest sympathies go to Gloria's husband, Al, and daughter, Jennifer, of whom Gloria was so very proud. It was my good fortune to have Gloria as an important member of my staff for more than five years, an honor to have her continued friendship thereafter, and a privilege to be with her during her final hours. Her loving, warm, and kind spirit touched so many people with whom she came into contact. May her beautiful soul finally be at peace.

On behalf of the entire alumnae association of Swedish Covenant School of Nursing I would like to extend our heart felt sympathies to Gloria's family. She was a very dear and important person to our orgainzation. She did so much, beginning way back when the Alumnae took on the project of building a new Chapel at the hospital. She was THE person who helped us with our annual luncheon and tours of the hospital. She thought of everything. We know that her battle is over and she is at peace.
