GLORIA J.
Age 85, of Canonsburg, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born on December 7, 1930, in McDonald to Martin and Charlotte Eldin Casciola, who preceded her in death. In November of 1948, she married Frank Arlia, who passed away on November 6, 1996. Gloria was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg where she served as a Christian Mother. She enjoyed spending time at the Canonsburg Senior Center and participated in many activities there. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and building puzzles. She is survived by her loving children, David F. (Sharon) Arlia of McDonald, Perry D. Arlia of Canonsburg, Samuel A. (Kathleen) Arlia of Canonsburg, Dorrine L. Green of Upper St. Clair, Christina A. Arlia of Texas and Gale M. McCauley of Muse; two sisters, Delores Casciola of Canonsburg and Sylvia Firestone of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel M. and Martin Casciola, Jr.; and three sisters, Louise DeCola, Martha Sawyer and Evelyn Henderson. Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in SALANDRA FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg. The Christian Mothers and Guild will recite the Rosary at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.wounded warriorproject.org.
