Glenn Steinberg Obituary

Steinberg, Glenn David 62, beloved husband of Mary (DiMasi), devoted father of Ellen (Coven) and Peter, proud grandfather of Claire Juliet Coven, loving stepfather of Evan Truesdale and adoring son of Muriel Kallis Steinberg Newman. Born in Chicago, he lived on N. Sheridan Rd., E. Lake Shore Dr., N. Astor St. and E. Delaware St., After graduating from Francis W. Parker School, he earned a BA in Art History at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign an MA in City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University. He worked as an urban planner at Urban Investment and Development Co., where he participated in the development of Water Tower Place and Dearborn Park in Chicago and Copley Place in Boston. He spent five years at the City of Chicago Planning Dept., working on projects in the North Loop. Years after that were spent managing the Old Orchard Country Club in Mt. Prospect, in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Among a wide variety of interests, he was a visual art expert, video afficionado, technology hound, photographer and photography obsessive, travel connosieur, avid movie, theater, opera buff and a rapid book collector. Day Camp days too we waited for busses that never came on time! We were friends and neighbors, and all Parker School pals in those early years. Dear Mary and family:



We will truly miss Glenn`s smiling face at Old Orchard C.C. He was a gentelmans gentelman. He always made sure his crew at the club was happy and taken care of. He was a pleasure to work for and gave use tremendus support not only at work but with our personal lifes to. He loved to treat us to special lunch outings were we could enjoy time away from the office and laugh along with him. It`s hard to say good bye to a wonderful man like Glenn, we will truly miss him and all his insite. A great man who I was lucky to know for several years will be missed by all of us.
