Gertrude Craig Obituary

NELLYSFORD - Gertrude L. Craig, 89, of Nellysford, passed away June 10, 2005, at her home.

She was born March 2, 1916, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Walter and Myrtle Patterson LaFlame.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Weber; and a brother, Edward LaFlame, all of Pittsburgh.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Howard L. Craig, of Nellysford; a son, Howard L. "Buddy" Craig Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Afton; one grandson, Michael L. Craig of Barboursville; one sister, Frances Gettel; and one brother, Thomas LaFlame, both of Pittsburgh; two nieces; and five nephews. She also leaves behind two very, very special friends and neighbors, Gordon and Doris Hughes, and Kermit and Elsie Bryant, both of Nellysford.

She worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., during World War II and later retired from the law firm of Paxon, Marshall and Smith in Charlottesville, after 20 years of service. She also worked for Alberene Stone Co. in Schuyler. She was a member of Rodes United Methodist Church in Afton.

There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday (June 23, 2005) at Rodes United Methodist Church to honor her life.

She was an anatomical donor.

The family requests memorial donations be made to either the Rockfish Valley Rescue Squad or Rodes Methodist Kitchen Fund.
