I am very sad to hear of Mr. Meyers' passing. As a friend of his son, Jay, I had the opportunity to get to know Mr. Meyers a bit and remember him very fondly as a man of great warmth and good humor. My deepest condolences to all his loved ones.

Dear Family of Gerson Meyers,

I was very saddened to learn just today at the Senior Center in Northfield that Gerson had passed away. My wife, Gwen (Kastel), and I have been friends of the Meyers family dating back to Glencoe in the 1950's, and I was reacquainted with Gerson at the Senior Center. He always had a smile and a pleasant greeting, and everyone there knew and liked him. We want to express our condolences to you on his passing. He was a friend and he will be missed.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Gerson's death. While we knew he had increasing health challenges, we assumed he would manage them as he managed so many other issues, calmly, cheerfully, with persistence, and effectively. Gerson became a good friend through the NSSC and his help and support as Tom worked on various projects, particularly Family Stories, were essential. He was a great resource and always willingly gave of himself. We will miss him as will all the people at the Center whom he assisted. But we know his family will miss him so much more, and to all of you we extend our deepest sympathies and our concerns. We hope you find comfort in a life well lived.

i first met gerson when i volunteered to coach at the senior center, probably 8 years ago. he let me coach his aol class and then file management. over the years i came to know and repect him as a person and we became friends. we had him over for dinner and went out together ocassionaly. i remember when i was first teaching kathy to use e mail and i went out of town for 2 weeks. i told her to call gerson if she had any problems. she had a problem and called him and of course he had the answer. he was an unselfish person and a pleasure to work with. kathy and i will both miss him.

Gerson was a wonderful person, always friendly, always helpful, always patient. I never heard him complain about anything. He seemed to enjoy whatever he was doing, and there was no challenge too great for him to tackle. The world could benefit from more persons like Gerson. Ann and I will miss him.

GERSON MEYERS GAVE OF HIMSELF, SO THAT SENIORS COULD BECOME PART OF THE NEW WORLD OF COMPUTERS. HE GAVE OF HIS TIME TIRELESSLY, SO THAT OTHERS COULD LEARN. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT A BRIGHT & CARING PERSON HE WAS, AND I WILL MISS HIM.

Bill Galliani advised me of the sad news yesterday. Just two weeks ago, we missed Gerson at our annual Navy luncheon at LWoods in Lincolnwood. He had never missed one before. All of his Navy group were loyal friends and we will miss him , especially at this time of the year.

Gerson made a large contribution to the North Shore Senior Center through his leadership in the Computer education program. There were few people with greater technical knowledge. He was capable and willing to share his expertise with others. Gerson will be sorely missed.

Mary Jayne and I each completed a family story about our fathers. We couldn't have done it without Gerson's technical help and moral support.

He was always helpful and encouraging and confident in the technology and the process. We owe him our gratitude and will always remember him affectionately.

To the Meyers Family,

I was shocked and greatly saddened to hear about Gerson’s death. I will miss Gerson's warm smile, cheerful personality and talking with him about the latest technical gadgets. I have many fond memories of Gerson growing up. On Behalf of Lisa and Myself, I wish to express that our sincere sympathy is with all of you at this sad time.

Love,

Michael and Lisa
