I never knew your real name, but I recognized your smile - even after 50+ years. I was one of the Burroughs kids you welcomed at volleyball tournaments like you knew me forever. May you rest in peace for all of your kindnesses to crazy kids, and may all of your family and friends be comforted with great memories.

An old classmate just e-mailed me the news, today (Monday), that you have passed away. Teach, You and Mr. E were my first bosses, at Davis Playground. When you work for a Greek Boss, you will embrace a strong work ethic! As I have said to you in the past besides my parents, you were a wonderful role model and leader. You taught us to be honest, fair, loving, compassionate, and true to yourself. Halloween, at Davis Playground helped to influence my hubby and I, to entertain over 400 kids every year, where we live. I would send you our growing numbers each year. Your leadership skills helped to influence my life greatly. I was going to send you an Easter Card and announce to you about my upcoming retirement, in June. I've spend 30-years as a Nurse and Unit Manager, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, in Peoria. My leadership was greatly influenced by you, so many years ago. You were firm, but also fair and loving. The kids loved you, and the adults loved you. Thank you for all of my Davis memories I can still hear your hearty laugh, in the small office. Thank you for taking us to Tournaments, Greek Town, China Town, and so much more. Our heartfelt sympathies to Ellen, and to your entire family. It was an honor and privilege knowing you and your family. Until we all meet again; May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Love you! Linda M. (Skovran) & Rick Foster, and Family.

Teach, I don't remember the first time we met because I was very young, but after that meeting you would never be forgotten. You were a second mother to me and all the kids at Davis Playground. You taught us good sportsmanship and that we were all winners. There was always something to do at Davis no matter what time of the year. You taught us so many different sports, crafts and games through the years. The bus trips and the songs we would sing, who could forget that! What a blast we always had! You taught us to respect ourselves and others. You always said to get good grades because your grades will follow you through your life. I always remembered that while going to school. I'll never forget the times when I got older and we would sit in the office and make hot chocolate or have a soda and just sit and talk. I still remember those talks we had. You were such an influence on me in my young life. As an adult, getting a picture or a note or card from you brought back all the memories and good times growing up at the playground. Thanks for everything Teach, you were the best of the best, a class act and loved by all. The gates to the playground have been locked for the last time, but you will never be forgotten. Until we meet again, May you rest in peace. May your memory be eternal.

She taught us how to have good sportsmanship, and be a winner at everything we did, So much time we spent together after school activities. May God hold her in his arms and may she shine down on all of us as a perfect angel. As i read how loved she was my tears fall down my face. Till we meet again!

Chris and my Aunt Do were both playground teachers and good friends. She came to my wedding, and called us each year after that to wish us a Happy Anniversary. That went on for 49 years. She was such a thoughtful and caring person. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of a great woman and friend. I knew her as "Teach". She was THERE for thousands of young children finding their way thru life at Davis playground. Kip, Teach, Mr. E and even Ed were a constant in our lives. They were our 2nd home and Teach was our 2nd Mom. Sorry I never told her, Thank You. Taught us to be good, we just did not know it then. Met her when I was about 8 yrs old. Whacked me on the back of my head and said "Firm hand fixes hard heads". Funny what U remember. Then 10 minutes later, she asked my name, said she knew my Dad, smiled and gave me a hug. She was always there for me. She said good bye when I was drafted and when I came back. She was a constant in MY life and until her passing never really appreciated her goodness. Just want her Family to know, that she has a place with God, she deserves it, she did ALL good for me and everyone who crossed her path. She touched the lives of Many, I will never forget "Teach"!!!

Teach, you were like my second mom. You made me join every sport and activity because you had more confidence in me than I had in myself. It killed me when we had a chance at the Olympics, I sprained my ankle and blew our chance. Thanks for all the great memories. I'll never forget the lady who pushed me when I could no longer push myself. R.I.P Teach
