Dear George, Dan, Lisa, and all the Strickland family members: We are very sorry to learn about your father's passing. Please know that he is in a better place after all the suffering that he has had over the past few months. I gather from other entries that it has been a very difficult time in his life, but that he went through it with courage and dignity. Being his children, you are now what is left of him in this world, but his spirit will always be a part of you. I know that you will keep his memory alive as you continue to celebrate his life by honoring him with your actions. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Dad,
Life and nature threw you a lot of hardships over the last 6 months, however you handled all of them with courage and dignity. I will always be amazed at the physical and emotional weight that you could carry, even as you were dying. I have learned from you all of my life and feel that I will keep learning from you the rest of my life.
You never said a lot, but you meant what you said. You saw peoples pain and worked quietly to help relieve their troubles. No single person will ever know the sum total of your good deeds, because you didn’t advertise them. You were the rock of the family and shouldered the burden, much like you shouldered all of your burdens… without a complaint.
You brought more into other people’s lives than you’ll ever know. I will miss you and love you all of the days of my life.

George:
There are no words that I or anyone can express to you to help ease the pain of what you are feeling at this time. There is never a good time to lose a parent, no matter what the age. Your father lived a good life and he would want all of his kids to celebrate his life. Know that your dad is in our prayers, as are you, Danny & Lisa (& each of the families). I am always here to lend a hand, a shoulder, or a bottle of The Poet.
With Sympathy and Love,

To George, Dan, Lisa & families,
our sincerest condolances for your father's passing. We wish we could be there to help support you but please know that we are keeping him and you in our prayers, that there is a group of people in New York State here to support you in any way we can. Your dad was a part of you your entire lives and at our age, that is a long time. I hope you lean on each other and support each other and share with each other all of the many stories you must all have about your father. And know that you are his greatest legacy. Lew
