George Schnackenberg Obituary

Schnackenberg, George "Skeeter", age 84, of Flossmoor, formerly of Homewood and Chicago-South Shore passed away November 5th. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jayne; his sister, Jeanne (Lyman) Cherry; and his brother, Paul (Pegi). He is survived by brothers, Elmer (late Marie), Frank (Liz), and Roy (Shirley) and sons Greg, of Momence, Gary (Emily) of Taipei, Taiwan; and daughter, Virginia of Flossmoor; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN prior to serving as a Navy Pilot in WWII and graduated from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio. He retired from Inland Steel after 30 years in 1982. George was an avid tennis player, gardener, and lover of music. Memorial service at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 2640 Park Dr., Flossmoor, IL Saturday at 1 p.m. Arrangements by: Heartland Memorial Center, (708) 444-2266.
