George Quinlan directed the tiny 10 pc band at Providence H.S. in Chicago and completely changed the direction of my life. I went to Sr. Joan and asked if I could join the band. She handed me a French Horn and music was at the core of everything I did after that. Whatever he did to that little group was magic and all I knew is I wanted to be a part of it. I went on to teach, compose and perform music to the present day. Thank you George Quinlan, for your inspiration and guidance.

Quinlans....I'm so sorry for your loss. And this is a big one...I just found out. So sorry I didn't know to attend his service. How proud you must be of this man of so many wonderful accomplishments and talents. He touched so many lives in his time it's hard to believe really. He hired me on his crew at the Burr Ridge store when I was just in high school, treated me good, gave me a chance, and I was happy to be near him for the years I worked there. So grateful to have known him....God bless him and you all during this hard time. Joe Diliberto

To George Quinlan Family: Many, many thanks for the fond memories and wonderful help throughout my teaching career with personal appearances, presentations, and just plain good times. And also many, many thanks for the just plain good times celebrated through personal contacts after teaching. "Senior," as I got to know him was a one of a kind person who always was on the spot for me. Thanks, Jim Bestman

George Jr.
Sorry to miss your Dad's wake as I was out of town. George was a good man and I looked forward to seeing him every year at the Student Teachers' Workshop. Amazing that at 90 he was wtill able to stop by work everyday. The music education profession just lost another icon. He now joins Lou Ricci, Leo Henning, and Tom Fabish in the big symphonic band in heaven. I can picture them fighting as to who is going to direct.

Mr. Quinlan was our band director at St. Felicitas School on the south side of Chicago. I played under his baton for five years. He worked very hard to make our marching band of about fifty 10-14 year old boys and girls sound good. Took us out on the streets of the neighborhood and taught us to march. A near impossible task. I remember him as a dedicated man who was always concerned about the well being of each and every one of us.

My deepest sympathy on the death of your father. He had a long, useful and wonderful life. His children are a glowing affirmation of that. Requiescat in pace.

Mr Quinlan taught Band at St Thomas More Grade School for many years. I was lucky enough to be in the Band under his direction along with many other St Thomas More students.
His passion for music inspired many to continue playing into High School and beyond. The Band he directed at St Thomas More was the best grade school band on the South side of Chicago, by far. He will be missed.
