Recent news articles about the mascot for the MN Vikings prompted me to look up someone who I knew was an original. I'm sorry to hear about Mr. Motyka's passing (that's how I knew him) and immediately wanted to share some thoughts about someone I remember from my youth and knew from the old neighborhood.
I began recalling the days when Larry and Mike were at Gladstone Park while we were playing football, baseball or whatever we were doing as kids in those days, and hearing their Dad whistle it was time for them to come home (from the distance he did it was amazing) is one of those things I've never forgetten...nor has my brother Jeff.
Had we known, I'm sure we would have attended services and shared this and our other memories with you. I want to wish you all the best and again my sincerest condolences on his passing.
