Hoban, George S. The Chicago Legal and Business Communities Mourn the Loss of Attorney George S. Hoban The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP sadly announces the passing of its retired partner, George S. Hoban, age 90, on January 27, 2005, in Austin, Texas. Mr. Hoban, at one time the Managing Partner of the then-named law firm of Hinshaw, Culbertson, Moelmann, Hoban & Fuller, first began his corporate practice with Joseph Hinshaw in 1938 and contributed significantly to the expansion of the firm to what it is today. "With the loss of George Hoban, the firm loses a link to its history," said Hinshaw's Chairman, Donald L. Mrozek. "George was a visionary leader during the firm's formative years. We mourn his passing." During his 41-year legal career, concluding in 1979, Mr. Hoban was known for his tenacious representation of corporate clients. He served for many years as General Counsel for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Duplex Products, and Northwest Community Hospital. Mr. Hoban was a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law and Ripon College, where he later served for many years as a member of the Board of Trustees. During World War II, from 1942 to 1945, Mr. Hoban served in the Judge Advocate General Corps. In the 1960s, he served two terms as president of Medinah Country Club. He is survived by his sons, William and Robert, and four grandchildren. His son, Robert Hoban, is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP. The family is requesting that memorials or contributions be made to Ripon College, Advancement Office, Hoban Memorial, P.O. Box 248, Ripon, WI 54971-0248. Bob and Bill,
Our deepest sympathies! Mom and Dad (Marge and Dwight Guilfoil) both passed along with my twin, Joyce. My fondest memories are of the old neighborhood in Arlington. I remember your mother and father so clearly over 50 years later! Again, our hearts are with you at this difficult time.
