I was very stunned to hear about George's quick passing. Such a wonderful person who, for me, was such an important part of my eleven years in Chicago. It was hearing his stories of growing up in Chicago, living in S.F., teaching, and of his many travels that endeared me to Chicago forever. To me, he will always exemplify the greatness of Chicago - City of Big Shoulders...a lot like George indeed! I'll never forget his wonderful dinners - especially his pork roast which to this day I still can't get right. With my daughter along for many visits, Adrienne learned the art of conversation and good manners while dining with George. It didn't matter what issues you had going on in your life - when you were with George it was all about sharing your passions and interests in the world around us. My favorite part about George was his down to earth demeanor, quick wit and openess. God Bless George Always, Denise Miller (formerly Addler)

Even though I wasn't extremely close to "Uncle George", I will always have fond memories of him. Right away he felt like family to me, and every year for Christmas he would give me a big bag of loose change that he had collected throughout the year! I had so much fun as a child, counting it and putting it in coin wrappers. Also, I will never forget how we (my mom Denise, my stepdad James, and myself) spent New Year's Eve for the new millenium (2000) with him and his friends. He was such a beautiful person and a wonderful role model.

No, it was not my 39th birthday party...but it was a great party because George was there. Thank God we alll got together two weeks ago.
The parties will never be the same.

We so enjoyed George's company! He was interested in everything, thoroughly engaging, and loved politics as much as we. Wish you could vote in November George!

George,
Besides introducing me to architecture, classical music, Minocqua, beautiful cars, Chicago, and so much more, you were a great friend, mentor, and role model. Although I will be unable to attend the service, I am glad I had the chance to see you last week to say good-bye. I miss you already.
