To Gay's Family
I met Gaylloyd in a cost accounting class at Roosevelt University. I worked as an accountant for three or four years and was seriously committed to absorbing as much accounting knowledge as possible. Gay, on the other hand, needed the accounting credits to get his degree and planned to forget everything he learned about accounting as soon as the class was over.
Gay had the talent to talk his way in or out of any situation. I tried to be like him but never could. We became good friends. Gay tried hard not to remember anything about accounting as long as I was around, and I was always around.
My daughter Nickie and Preston's son, Jerrin, and other kids would play over at Gay´s house, often.
I admired Gay and how he did not let war injuries or anything else keep him from going after what we wanted. I admired his relationship with his children and grandkids, and especially his relationship with his wife, Jackie. Jackie was with Gay every step of the way. I have no doubt he would not have survived the septic infection had Jackie not fought so hard to make sure he got the absolute best care.
Like everyone else, I have missed Gay and think about him often. This memorial is a beautiful and well-deserved tribute to a great person and friend.

Dear Lanyaird and Monica,
It was with great sadness and fond memories that I learned of your Dad's passing. I worked with Gayllord at F.A.A. for four years effecting Affirmative Action Programs. Under his leadership, much was accomplished. He affected the lives of many people. I know how much he must of loved you and how proud he must of been of you.
