To the Manna Family.
My delayed respects for Gary's passing.
I delivered auto parts for Skokie Auto Parts back in the mid 1980's and at the time Manna Brothers were operating on Oakton Blvd in Skokie.
While I didn't really know Gary or Scott well they were pretty good people.
Never once did they have a cross word to say. It was always "Hi Dave...How ya doin' today "
Rest In Peace.

DEAR DIANE,
FATHER FRED, FRED, ROSS, JOHN, SCOTT AND FAMILIES,
I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU ALL WHAT WONDERFUL JOB YOU DID IN CELEBRATING GARY'S LIFE HERE ON EARTH. THE SPEECHES WERE AMAZING, ALL THAT WAS SAID, WAS EVERYTHING I WAS THINKING. IT WAS ALMOST SURREAL. HE WOULDN'T OF BELIEVED THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO'S LIVES HE TOUCHED.
I ALWAYS TOLD HIM HE WAS THE DRAW AT M&B. SCOTT FIXED THE CARS HE FIXED THE PEOPLE. THAT WAS SO ELOQUENTLY SAID. OF COURSE HE NEVER BELIEVED ME. HIS TALENT WAS PEOPLE. HE WAS A GREAT MAN. I WILL ALWAYS MISS HIM.
I KNOW THAT HE IS SITTING WITH
MAMA MANNA, MAKING HER LAUGH, EATING SUNDAY DINNER AND WATCHING SPORTS ON TV. OH, AND BY THE WAY, DON'T FORGET THE ROLLS.
MY PRAYERS OUR WITH YOU ALL.

My deepest sympathy and prayers to Gary's family. I only knew Gary a short time as I left Algonquin Middle School every day and waited for the Pace bus in front of his auto repair center. He always smiled and waved "hi" to me. On cold, snowy and rainy days, he told me I could come in and stay warm. He was very patient with many of the students who also waited with me on the corner. I was shocked and so saddened when I heard about him leaving us. I will miss his kindness and happy smile. His memory will be with me, especially on those cold, snowy days.

Nearly 400 people came to Des Plaines (including myself) this weekend to pay tribute to my Uncle Gary in their own way. Gary was loved by all who met him, and his memorial service was testament to that fact.
Being the oldest of his nephews and nieces (the "Manna Cousins"), I have many memories of him when he and I were both kids (even though he was 21 years older than me, he was always a kid) living in Illinois. From watching him play softball with the other Manna Brothers, to having Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's place to visiting him at his shop. Every time I saw him, he had a smile on his face, and a genuine interest in what was new in my life.....not to mention an eager willingness to drop whatever he was doing and go out and play. :-)
I will miss my uncle's laugh, and his bright smile, and I will continue to tell stories of him to those younger than me, and those who never met him. He'll live on in our hearts and in our minds.
You'll always be a Manna Brother, Gary, and I'll never forget you. I love you, Uncle Gibby.

Dear Manna family,
Please accept my sincere condolences. I'm one of Garys customers. Although I have only known Gary for a short time I can say that he will be missed. There was not a time that I was in the shop that Gary wasn't joking in some way.

Manna family:
My deepest sympathy to you. Gary (and the rest of you, but mostly Gary) has been my mechanic since I moved to Chicago in 1996. I am so glad I never hesitated to tell him how I appreciated his honesty and fine service. He always told me how nice it was to hear that.
He also liked that I called him my car's "doctor." He'd smile when I'd say, "You know, Gary, you're the professional. I know nothing about cars except how to drive them and fill them with gas and I trust you completely. You're the doctor!"
I will miss him terribly when I next walk through those welcoming doors of MB Auto, but don't hear "How ya doin'?"
Blessed be his memory, and may God surround you with love, support, grace and mercy. Indeed, this fun-loving, honest, talented man with a big heart is gone much too soon.
May peace and the promises of the resurrection uphold you,

As the first "in-law" (daughter-in-law, sister-in-law) to the Manna's, I was priviledged to have known Gary through many phases of his life. Unfortunately, as "in-law" became "ex"-in-law, I wasn't able to be a part of the Manna's day to day life. However, it was always Gary who welcomed me with open arms when I visited Chicago and made my way to "the station". I'll miss those arms, the quick smile and the quirky sense of humor. Gary, you left us too soon!! You're propably up in heaven right now making sure that all newcomers are welcome and smiling your brilliant smile to them.
May God keep Diane, Dad, the brothers and their families as well as Uncle Herman all safe ad sound. I love you all. Nell and Jeff Wade

Dear Mrs. Gary Manna, Fred Sr., Fred Jr., Ross, John, Scot, and all who were lucky enough to know Gary!
I first met Gary as a co-worker at the Approved Greasing Palace in Chicago. Most of my memories of Gary are derived from those early years and I can say that he never changed from the kind soul who did not mind hard work, long hours, phenominal customer service, and enjoying life. I was saddened to read of his passing and want to send my condolences to the Manna family and all those who were lucky enough to be touched by Gary's big heart.
I am going to be out of town on business this weekend and unable to attend the memorial service but wanted to let all of you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Dear Manna Family,
I didn't know Gary very well, but my father and Gary (along with Scot and the rest of the staff) became friends over the years. My father always held Gary in the highest regard, not only as a top mechanic, but as a wonderful man. My deepest sympathy to the family on your tragic loss. You are in my prayers.

I remember him well even though I haven't seen him in years. The last I knew of him was his service station on Crawford & Oakton in Skokie. We were in same grade at East Prairie grammar school and were in many of the same classes throut the years. We lived down the same street. Such a nice, cute kid. Three of my brothers hung out with his brothers thruout the grammar school years. It is so sad - he was too young! My prayers go with his wife and family members. May God comfort you in your time of loss.
