Our deepest regards to The Handwerker Family.
We have lost a remarkable man. Gary was the kind of guy you would like the moment you met him. He was funny, respectful, generous, wise and above all caring. I loved hearing about his hobbies and especially his humorous stories. Gary was a genuine character and has left us with incredible memories and a legacy that is not only hard to beat but unmatchable. He will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathies go to your family. Bobby always made you feel as if he were thinking about you at all times. To my friend, Bobby:

I know that you have moved to a higher place that may need you more. However, your sudden departure has left a huge void within me and others that cannot be filled. I MISS YOU!

I feel blessed and very lucky to have been fortunate enough to know you for almost 20 wonderful years. Thank you for sharing part of your life with me, I am forever grateful. You have enriched my life and taught me many lessons about life. You have guided me numerous times whenever I came to you with questions. Your advice was always true and honest. Your wit and insight on the issue(s) would always point the way to the correct solution(s).

On Wednesday, I watched as hundreds of people showed up to honor you. They traveled from all parts of the country. It truly was an outpouring of love and appreciation directed solely toward you and your family. Bobby you would have been so proud of how your daughter and granddaughter spoke. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. Everyone attending had a wonderful and unique story to tell about how you touched their lives.

The uncountable number of people’s lives that you have touched and enriched over the years, is truly amazing. Your love and kindness was always given with “No strings, No expectations”. Occasionally, a person, who didn’t know you, would be a little skeptical of your kindness. However, your friends would just smile and say, “Yup, that’s just Bobby.”

I, for one, will never forget your unquestioning loyalty and kindness, when you stepped up and helped me out of a terrible situation in Florida. Thank You!

Bobby, you truly are one of the funniest men I’ve ever known. You would make “going for lunch” an event. I was always amused at your comical way of ordering lunch. Everyone would be laughing watching you, just being you.

You have left behind an enormous amount of gifts. However, the most important gift you left behind was the “Legacy of Love” that you gave your family, your beautiful wife, Sheila, your wonderful children, Barry, Sharyl and Cindy, and your nine grandchildren. They will miss you terribly, but you will always be with them thru your legacy that you have left behind for them.

I truly have respected your uncompromising love, devotion and commitment that you have always shown towards your family. You have inspired me to try to live the rest of my life with the integrity, honesty and honor that you have. I wish and pray that I can be half the man that you were.

We will all miss you Bobby….your family and your friends. You have lived a truly remarkable and amazing life. My only wish is that it could have been longer.

I LOVED you for the gracious and wonderful man that you were. You will be missed. Especially by me! Goodbye my friend. Someday I will see you again. I look forward to that time, when we will laugh again.

Love Always
RP

Sheila and family,
I need to let you know how much Gary had an impact on my life for the short period of time he was a part of it. His enthusiasm for life coupled with his amazing outlook and disposition had me smiling ear to ear every time I left your home. I felt so honored that he let me into his life and shared with me his passion for everything he did. I was amazed that this man had his hands in so many things and felt so passionate about each of them. It was an absolute honor to meet and share time with Gary. I'm so very sorry for your family's loss.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
