1938 ~ 2012
On April 12, 2012 we lost an amazing Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend.
Gary Ray Collins, born April 10, 1938 in Odessa, Texas, passed away from complications of heart surgery. Survived by his loving wife of 50 plus years, Patricia Agnitsch Collins; Son Scott (Kristen) Collins; Daughter Kelly (Kevin) Erickson; Grandchildren Michael Collins, Emily Erickson, Kaylee Collins and Matthew Erickson; Brother Arvin (Susan) Collins and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his Parents, Arvin Newell Collins and Ruth Victory and Brother, Don Collins. Gary served his Country in the US Army from October, 1960 to September, 1966. His career was spent in the aerospace industry and he gave much of his time serving on the Manhattan Beach Unified School Board. His greatest joy was his family and nothing made him happier than spending time together. He had many treasured friendships. Gary will be missed so very much by so many.

To Gary's family, my prayers are with you at this time of great sorrow. We grew up in the same neighborhood until Gary went to MCHS and I moved and went to RUHS, but he will always be in my memories.

Arv,

Gary was a great guy and a wonderful older brother, and he'll be certainly missed. I remember countless times the three of us spent together back in the day... Gary always took the time to listen to us and was more than tolerant of two semi-rowdy teens like us. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Your friend,
Bob

You are a great uncle. I still fondly remember you helping with my resume in 1991 that landed my expatriate job in Japan!!

We worked together at MBUSD from 1989 until he left in 1994. We did keep in touch via Facebook and I was glad of that. He was a really great guy and will be missed. My condolences to the family.

I forgot to sign my message. I think you know who wrote it anyway. You are greatly missed by many. You touched the lives of those you met and many of those you never met face to face with all the good things you did. Love and prayers to you and your family!

Many awesome memories from first grade to becoming an adult that have included the Collins family and Gary was another dad to me. He influenced me in many ways. I thank him for the ketchup in the MBUSD cafeterias. He knows what I mean by that. Kelly and Scott, my thoughts and love to you and your families. I love you guys!
