Black, Freddie J. Age 85, late of Merrillville, IN and formerly of Hegewisch, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Beloved husband of the late LaVerne (nee Scharneck); loving father of Frederick Black, Deborah (Louis) Toth, Dennis (Janet) Black, Sharran Narug, Connie (John) Beniac, Donald (Dedra) Black, Mary (Mark) Banaszak and Kimberly (Jeffrey) Turnbull; devoted grandfather and great-grandfather of many; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and many brothers and sisters. Mr. Black was retired from the U.S. Army. Visitation Wednesday 2:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel, 11200 South Ewing Ave., Chicago to St. Florian Church. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL. 773-731-2749. www.elmwoodchapel.com.
