Fred Lippi Obituary

Fred Edward Lippi

Passed from our lives on December 19th, 2015 at the age of 56, after succumbing to injuries while playing his favorite sport, basketball. He was born on August 19th, 1959 to the late Richard and Rita Lippi. He leaves his loving wife of 31 years, Monica, and their devoted children, Stefanie, Kristin (Ryan M.), and Ryan, his siblings Don (Joanne), David (Vandana), Diane, Mike, Joanne (Dave), brother-in-law Dante Nassi (Zulie), and his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

After graduating from Westmoor High School in 1977, Fred joined the United States Air Force where he trained to become an Air Traffic Controller. Fred served for four years, earning a rank of Sergeant and an honorable discharge in 1982. Fred continued his career as an FAA certified Air Traffic Controller for 33 years, working primarily out of the Oakland Airport.

After his retirement, Fred took on two jobs, one as a Stanford "Red Coat" Supervisor, and another as Mobility Services Supervisor at Levi's Stadium. Both jobs enabled Fred to combine two things he loved: sports and his passion for helping and serving others.

Fred was a devoted father, a loving husband, a wonderful brother and a great man full of humor, warmth, and integrity. He loved to joke, laugh and make others laugh as well. He is gone far, far too soon, will be missed by so many, and those closest to him are left with broken hearts.

Family and friends may visit Monday, December 28th from 4:30-9:00pm at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30pm. A Funeral Mass with Military Honors will be celebrated Tuesday, December 29th at 1:00pm at St. Gabriel Church, 2559 40th Avenue, San Francisco.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (Fred was a passionate advocate for veterans) or Special Olympics.

I worked with Fred for 12 years. He was the best man I knew. The best worker, father, husband, and friend. He had a great sense of humor and always seemed to do the right thing in his life. God bless the Lippi family. Be proud of the life he lived. May he rest in peace.

Fred was an amazing man who loved his family more than anything. I remember how great he was with all the girls he helped in softball. He was patient, kind and so caring to all of them.

We lost a good man, but I know he is now an angle looking over all of you. Sending all my love.

My family and I were deeply saddened to hear this news. This fine family is cherished and I hope the love and support from their family and many friends in San Carlos embraces them with comfort and strength. Fred was a good friend to all who knew him. The time he volunteered to assist his children's sports teams was appreciated by both the children and parents. He was a man of patience, humor and consistent encouragement. He always contributed advice or an observation that was always perfect, sometimes understated but usually direct and humorous. His analysis of situations and common sense was always appreciated. My family and I will always remember the fun we had with our traveling softball teams, middle school and high school experiences and we will miss a dear friend.

Our love and prayers,
Sherri, Ashley and Michelle Nicholes

I was shocked to read about Fred's passing. I haven't seen him since highschool. He was one of the nicest guys back at Westmoor. I feel so bad for his family. Fred was way too young to go. May his memory be for a blessing.
