Fred was so well liked by everyone who knew him. He was an extraordinary man who loved family. He made sure he showed up for every family affair possible. Most family members will always remember how he carried around a very special photo from many years ago, so everyone could see it and talk about the past history of the Gale family and the Carmen family. He was a very special man who was so proud of family, yet so humble and so pious about all of his own accomplishments and his professional success as an attorney. He was so proud of his family, but life wasn't always easy for him. There were tragedies he faced with the strength of a husband, a father, a son, and he gave others the strength to carry on as well..
I am sad that I lived so far away from Chicago. I wish I could have been there to attend the service for him. My heart goes out to his dear wife Adele, and to his children and grandchildren. Linda Calderone, cousin

Fred kept our family together. He was my mom's first cousin....whatever that makes me. He and I lived in different states. He would call me every few months to ask about the family. He called my other cousins too.
He never talked about himself; just asked about my family. He was smart, positive, fun and wonderful to talk to.
I guess I was the last or almost last person to talk to him in the hospital. I thank my lucky stars that I had planned to be in Chicago at that time. I was planning to have lunch with him and Adele. Instead I had a nice conversation with him and got to meet his 3 sons. Fred will always be in my heart.
