Dearest Cesar,

Our hearts are filled with sadness as we mourn Pearlie's passing. It was heartbreaking to witness Pearlie's courageous battle with PSP over the past 12 years. And through it all you held the family together. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for you, Derick and wife Amy, Billy and wife Jennifer; and grandchildren Mandy, Emma, and Malia.

Your unwavering love, selfless devotion and loving care to her especially during her illness are awe-inspiring and heartwarming – you exemplified the true meaning of love and marriage.

I will always cherish our friendship; and the happy memories of the fun-filled college days with Pearlie; when you, Pearlie, Danny and I were a four-some; and our shared hopes, dreams, successes and challenges as we started our own families.

Pearlie lived a life of purpose and goodness. She touched many lives through her gifts of courage, compassion, love of music, nursing expertise, and determination. Though there will always be an ache within our hearts that will never go away, we take comfort in knowing that Pearlie is in eternal rest. We will miss her very much…

May the Lord, and love from family and friends continue to give you strength.

Much love,

Danny, Celia, and Mark Agustin

Dear Tito Cesar, Derick, Billy and families,

We are so sorry for your loss. But, Tito Cesar, how you took care of Tita Pearlie has made us ever so proud to be your relatives. We hope and pray that we are never tested the way you and Tita Pearlie were. If put in your position, we trust that with God's help we will be able to love and care the way you did.

We will miss Tita Pearlie and always remember her with love.

With our deepest sympathy,

Jodi Suguitan

We are sorry for your loss of your beloved Pearlie. But she is not entirely "gone", for she lives on in your hearts, in our hearts, for we love her dearly, also.
This poem is a favorite of ours. May it bring you some peace and comfort.
God bless - always.
Love and prayers,

WALK WITHIN YOU
(author unknown)

If I be the first of us to die,
Let grief not blacken long your sky.
Be bold yet modest in your grieving.
There is a change but not a leaving.
For just as death is part of life,
The dead live on forever in the living.
And all the gathered riches of our journey, The moments shared, The
mysteries explored, The steady layering of intimacy stored, The things
that made us laugh or weep or sing,
The joy of sunlit snow or first
unfurling of the spring, The wordless
language of look and touch, The knowing, Each giving and each taking.
These are not flowers that fade,
Nor trees that fall and crumble,
Nor are they stone, For even stone
cannot the wind and rain withstand,
And mighty mountain peaks in time reduce to sand.
What we were, we are.
What we had, we have.
A conjoined past imperishably present.
So when you walk the woods where once
we walked together, And scan in vain the dappled banks beside you for my shadow, Or pause where we always did
upon the hills to gaze across the land,
And spotting something, reach by habit
for my hand, And finding none, feel
sorrow start to steal upon you,
Be still.
Close your eyes.
Breathe.
Listen for my footfall in your heart.
I am not gone but merely walk within
you.

Dear Tito Cesar, Derick & Amy, Billy & Jennifer, Amanda, Emma and Malia:
I am so sorry for the loss of Tita Perle. I know that there is an empty space in your heart that she once filled. I was so thankful and grateful that you gave me the privelege to be close to you and share in your suffering during the memorial & funeral service. I want you to know that I love you all and that my prayers are with you. I was reading in 2 Samuel 12:23 - King David's son had died and he states "I shall go to him, but he will not return to me" . . . Tita Perle is now pain free in heaven in the presence of Jesus with a glorified body. One day we will go to join her there. . . Jesus said (John 14:2) " My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am"....
I bet Tita Perle is working side by side with Jesus preparing a place for us in heaven. Knowing how well she prepared your house in Houston for my family to visit that first thanksgiving . . . I bet we are going to have the finest decorated mansions in heaven when we arrive and Tita Perle is going to be there to be the first one to welcome us into heaven with open arms.
Yes I am sad that she has departed from our earth and is no longer in our presence. . . however I rejoice that she is in the presence of Jesus and that one day we will have a family re-union in heaven where we will be together for all eternity.

Dearest tita Pearlie,

We honor you, who have been privileged to suffer much, in Christ's name. The pearl rosaries, distributed at your memorial, had humble beginnings--made in the Philippines by a holy woman, who prayed as she painstakingly created each one by hand. I imagine that each pearl represents you, as well as each of us, who gather together to bid you farewell. Though imperfect and of seemingly little value on its own, together in love, each misshapen pearl gains significance as part of a holy rosary—a thing of beauty, to be treasured. We will remember you with love, every time we pray it, until we meet again in Paradise.

Sincerely and with all our love,
Benjie and Henedine Aldana

CESAR ... Please accept my sincerest Condolences on the passing of PERLITA. I just learned about it today Oct-26 - when I came back from vacation, and read the email from our Don Bosco classmate. I also found out now that Perlita and myself are both U.P. 1968 graduates, with me in Bus.Admin. So it's possible we were classmates too - in common courses at U.P. University College. May PERLITA Rest In Peace in the Care of our Lord. (Tito DeLeon, Mississauga, Ontario Canada)

Pearlie & I have been close friends since college and belonged to a clique we named “The OAs” (OA for over-acting). We had the same interests, shared experiences, were “partners in crime” and (very) mischievous. I will forever cherish those fun-filled times. Being chosen as Billy's godmother brought us even closer.

I last saw Pearlie & Cesar nine years ago at my son's wedding in Boston. Since then, we've only spoken on the phone, and later on through Cesar via a speaker phone. I followed the progression of Pearlie's illness but not actually see it, which is probably better in a way. Now, whenever I'll think of her, the picture in my mind will be my dear friend - full of life, healthy & not PSP afflicted.

Cesar, you have lived to show what “in sickness and in health, till death do us part” really means and we admire & thank you for it. Though we can't be with you at this time, we are sending our hugs to you & the family. Please keep in mind that when Pearlie left this world in your arms, she knew how much you loved her. She is with God now and is at peace.

May the happy, cherished memories give you strength at this time and please take care. I know Pearlie would like that.

We would like to send our condolence on the passing away of Tita Pearlie. We continue to remember her in our prayers. Here is our prayer for her:

"Lord, we entrust our dear Tita Pearlie to Your never failing LOVE and CARE, for the life she lived and the life to come, knowing that You have been and are doing for her far better things than we can comprehend, desire or pray for, and trusting with full confidence and in faith that she now rests in Your Loving Arms, in a place far-better than anywhere here on earth.

Eternal rest grant unto Tita Pearlie, O Lord, and let perpetual Light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Mama Mary, please intercede for Tita Pearlie's eternal rest, and may you cover her with your mantle of love and protection. Amen."

Pearlie and I were very close friends as far back as our college days at UP. Tatay and Nanay and my siblings treated her like a family member- she and Cesar asked Nanay to be their Ninang when they got married 42 years ago. We shared a lot of fond memories over the years. I'll miss her. May Pearlie's soul rest in peace. May God bless and comfort Cesar and his family as they grieve over the loss of their beloved Pearlie.
