March 15, 2010I could probably fill a book with stories describing my Uncle Frank. We had an interesting and, I believe, special relationship...he was an authority figure when I was young...I remember how he would amaze me as someone who seemed to know everything about, well... everything. Whether it was explaining to me how a radio worked...or giving me advice on a wide range of topics, I grew up thinking he must be one of the smartest persons in the world. Over the years our relationship inevitably changed...while I could never consider myself an equal, he treated me as one. He never hesitated to give me advice, at times...whether I sought it or not...but it was always well-intended and good advice. Uncle Frank was part of three generations of my family and I'm sure we'll all be thinking about him, talking about him and in that process, and remembering him for the rest of our lives. My early years growing up in the Chicago area were enhanced thanks to my relationship with my "Uncle frank". During the family gatherings that we would regularly attend, Frank would always take time out for me to offer advice, insight and especially humor. I am sorry that I moved away from him at the age of 9 and I truly regret not spending more time with him as I got older.
The stories that my grandmother (Isabelle) would share about my Uncle always captivated me and despite the infrequency of our visits with him, Uncle Frank would always enter into our family remembrances and stories. These stories were sure to bring smiles to faces and will continue to do so for years to come.
To Uncle Frank (Jr) and Uncle Joe and your families, Amy, Ali and I offer you our deepest sympathy and condolences due to the passing of Frank. We will all miss him greatly.
Sincerely,
James, Amy and Alicia Kayer
