To all the Napleton clan and particularly Betty, Suzanne and I extend our sincerest condolences on a great loss. Fran, like his father before him, was a consummate family man and a pretty good car salesman as well!

A man is measured in his life and remembered by the legacy he leaves of friends and family. Fran was surrounded by those who respected him and revered him, in life and now in death.

Fran never failed to make his opinions known and was generous in his comments and recommendations! He called things they way he saw them. I remember telling him that we were planning on naming our first child after the boy's maternal Grandfather, Roger, instead of after my grandfatrher, Edward. He frowned, saying he thought Edward was a great name but as long as we were chosing a family name, well then Roger would be OK. He stopped for a moment and asked if we were sure and I said yes but we would name our second son Edward - he smiled and said OK that's a deal and shoke my hand. Our second son Edward is now 24. You didn't go back on a handshake with Fran and neither did he.

Rest in peace, Fran!

Dear Betty
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the whole family at this time of sorrow. Some of my fondest memories are of the visits to 411 Amalfi in Coral Gables with the Napleton and Carney cousins. Sundays and spagetti, rides to Miami Beach and ice cream cones. My most favorite memory was when I flew to Chicago from Miami to buy my first car. It was a 68 Blue Plymouth Satellite Convertible. I felt so proud that my Godfather had found me my dream car. Uncle Ed was there, but Fran was the one who had it ready and waiting for me. He handed me the keys and I was on my way. It was at the Blue Island dealership. Another favorite was when you and Fran met my children for the first time. Fran called my daughter, Rita, "Tootsa Bella" and I still call her that to this day. Love to all of you, Donna Jeanne

My favorite Mr. Napleton story took place at least forty years ago. I was a paperboy for the Beverly Review and the Napletons’ old house on Maplewood, the house that was the first St. Walter rectory, was on my route. I was collecting for December, the collection, of course, that coincided with Christmas tipping. The Napletons’ house was the first of my collections, as it was each month. Mr. Napleton came to the door and I said, probably a little meekly, “Collecting for the Review.” Mr. Napleton shook his head and said “Mark, it’s December. Don’t just say ‘Collecting for the Review.’ Stick out your hand to shake your customer’s hand and say ‘MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Collecting for the Review.’ That way, you’ll get a lot more tips because the customer will know what you’re looking for. C’mon, Mark; your dad’s a salesman! I’m sure he told you that.” Mr. Napleton topped off that advice with a generous tip. As I proceeded along my route, I followed his admonition, and it was a banner year for Christmas tips for this Beverly Review paperboy. While my sales skills have never been on a par with those of the Napleton boys, I’ll always remember that lesson in selling I learned from their dad.

Over the years, the Quinns have bought numerous cars from the Napletons and always have been treated like family. My brother and I have remained close to Paul and his brothers through the years, and the lessons they learned from their father, about business, about family, about life, and about how to conduct yourself have never been lost.

God bless Mr. Napleton and the whole Napleton family. Our prayers are with you as you send this wonderful man off to his new eternal home.
