The Geoghegan Family

I posted a picture in the photo gallery of some of the young men from St Bernadette that Mr Geoghegan spent countless volunteer hours with. He coached us in basketball and football and every Sunday in the fall taped our ankles before the big game. Like KJ said "he could tape ankles with the best of them". Billy we will all miss your Dad but because he had such an influence on you and your Brothers and Sisters and all of us that he will live on in us. God Bless the Geoghegan Family.

My memories of Mr. Geoghegan are many and I am lucky to have known him. He was the guy who taped your ankles before grammer school football games, always had time to tell you a joke in the middle of our street, went to church at the exact same time every Sunday, and honored his family, to name a few.

He was a great neighbor and friend whom I will never forget. My sympathy to all of the Geoghegans.

Carol,

It is with deep sadness that I learnt of your Fathers passing. Although I didn't have many opportunities to meet with him over the years it is with very fond thoughts that I remember him. How could I forget his wonderful hospitality and generosity to my father, Pat and I at the time of your wedding to Kyran. Our thoughts are with you and your Mum. Eamon, Kevin, Brendan and Sinead we are thinking of you too at this sad time.

My fondest memories of Mr. Geoghegan includes dilly bars at Dairy Queen, walking to 95th Street for custards, teaching me to drive in the yellow corvair, and those late Saturday evening visits in the screen house drinking reebs and just reminiscing about the good old days.

For you see, Mr. and Mrs. Geoghegan and the entire Geoghegan family were such an important part of those good old days. Softball games in the street, the basketball hoop on the corner of 2657, broken window on the front porch, to patching a split forehead while my parents were out.

How lucky we kids were to have parents like Bill & Dot Jordan and Fran & Lill Geoghegan- neighbors and friends forever. God bless you Mr. Geoghegan.

My deepest sympathies to the Geoghegan and Nash families. It was my pleasure to know Mr. Geoghegan through the years. I enjoyed his sense of fun and humor with me on the phone at work when calling Chuck. My thoughts and prayers are with you Lillian. At your request I will send a check to the Hospice organization located in Matteson.
