Francis Evans Obituary

Evans, Francis Roger "Buddy Boy" Was born on July 14, 1931. He attended DuSable High School and graduated in 1950. He attended St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, NC from 1952 1953 on a basketball scholarship where he was a Co-Captain as a Freshman and helped lead them to the CIAA Championship game. He had a 2 year break while serving his country in the Armed Forces, where he was the only African-American on the All Armed Forces Basketball Team. He returned to St. Augustine in September of 1955. He joined the Chicago Police Department in 1959 and stayed until 1973 when he left and joined the Department of Children and Family Services until he retired in 2001. Francis was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linnie Evans, July 2007; brothers, Barry, Leon; and sister, Shirley. He leaves to mourn two children, Keith (Dawn) and Tracey; his brother, George; three grandchildren, Cameron, Kayla and Monroe "Money"; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends. Viewing for close family and friends will be Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Taylor Funeral Home on 63 E. 79th Street in Chicago from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Funeral to be held Monday, August 25, 2014 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 7661 W. 63rd Place, Summit, IL. Wake 6:00-7:00p.m. Funeral 7:00-8:00p.m. Burial Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Lincoln Cemetery, 12300 S. Kedzie, Chicago IL.
