Evelyn MCGEE Obituary

MCGEE,
Evelyn E. "Lynn"
(Age 90)

Lynn McGee was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and was blessed to have a large extended family, and full and happy childhood. Her high school years were spent in the backdrop of World War II, but she had an enjoyable social life, including many band activities and a riding club to which she belonged.

Lynn attended the University of Denver, and graduated with a BA in Social Studies. During college, she was employed in the Dean's office, and was a member of Sigma Kappa. It would also be during this time that she met her future husband.

Lynn and Mike were married in 1952 in Denver. Mike was in the military and they would move many times over the course of their marriage, including assignments in Wisconsin, Alaska and Virginia. They would eventually added three children to the equation and would have many wonderful adventures.

The family relocated back to Alaska in 1972, where both Lynn and Mike eventually retired. She was employed as an Office Administrator at Ben Eielson High School for many years, and upon completion of her Master's Degree, she took a position as a Counselor at North Pole High School. She was loved by her students and over the years, she guided many teens through the trials of high school. She was inducted as the President of the Alaska School Counselors Association in 1987, and retired in 1998 so that she and Mike could travel. They went on many trips all over the world.

Lynn was one of the most gracious, loving, patient, optimistic souls and her kindness was known to anyone she met. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Jr., and her husband, Mike. She is survived by her brother John; daughters Pat and grandson Aaron, as well as Sarah and grandson Cryus Cannon.

A service will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 2:00 PM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Park Place, where Lynn resided until her death. We were truly blessed with this most beautiful, loving and kind spirit.
