Evelyn DeForest Obituary

Evelyn (Cogswell) DeForest Evelyn (Cogswell) DeForest, age 87, wife of the late Lester B. DeForest died on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Hancock Hall, Danbury. Mrs. DeForest was born in Ridgefield, November 21, 1920, a daughter of the late Richard and Katherine (Dyke) Cogswell. She attended Ridgefield schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School. A lifelong Ridgefield resident, Evelyn was active in the Ridgefield Democratic Party and was a past Registrar of Voters. She also served as a clerk of the Small Claims Court and as secretary at the Connecticut Civil defense office when it was based in Ridgefield. Evelyn is survived by two sons, Wayne DeForest and his wife, Mary of Waverly, N.Y. and Lee DeForest and his wife, Margaret of Ridgefield; two grandchildren, Wayne DeForest II of Perry, Ga. and Jennifer Chrabaszcz of Northbridge, Mass.; two great-grandchildren; two nephews; three great-nieces; a great-nephew; and dear friend, Carol Mitchell. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick Cogswell and Charles Cogswell; a nephew, Roy Cogswell; and niece, Lynn Cogswell Tracy. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 12 noon in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Burial will follow in Beck Hill Cemetery, Lewisboro, NY.
