Evans Gemmill Obituary

Evans R. Gemmill GLEN ROCK/POTOSI Evans R. Gemmill, 78, passed away at home after an extended illness on Tuesday, October 16, 2006. He was the husband of Iva L. (Cook) Gemmill. He was born on October 10, 1928, in Stewartstown, to the late Roy and Mary (Seitz) Gemmill. Mr. Gemmill was a U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran, having served his country during the Korean War. Evans retired from the Caterpillar Corporation after many years working as a machinist. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed farming and gardening. In addition to his wife of 56 years, Mr. Gemmill is survived by a son, D. Keith Gemmill and his wife, Jane of Seven Valleys; a daughter, Debra Counts and her husband, Ray of Seven Valleys; grandsons, Judd and Josh Lackey, and Adam Gemmill; great-granddaughter, Zoe Lackey; three brothers, Lloyd, Preston, and Glen; four sisters, Helen, Phyllis, Doris, and Dorothy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Zion (Potosi) United Methodist Church, 10730 Mt. Zion Road, Glen Rock, with funeral service will be 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Larry W. Parlett officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion (Potosi) United Methodist Church, 10730 Mt.
