Eunice Sloan Obituary

EUNICE LOUISE SLOAN, peacefully passed away February 20, 2008 from natural causes. She was born January 14, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY at the home of her parents James and Lola (Lilienthal) McGee who predeceased her. In 1943 she married the love of her life, George F. Sloan. Upon his retirement 1948 as the Chief Trust Officer of Chase Bank NewYork, they split there time between their homes in Shelter Island, Long Island and Fort Lauderdale, Florida After his death in 1974, Eunice continued his legacy as generous patron to several charities and institutions that addressed the medical needs of the blind and terminally ill children. As an accomplished organist with a beautiful voice, she pursued her love of music as a member of several singing groups and church choirs, most recently, she sang in the choir of St. John The Divine' Episcopal Church. She had a cosmopolitan perspective on life a resulting from her extensive world travels. Eunice will be remembered for her strong will, sharp mind, keen wit and her devotion to George. She is survived by her grand nephew Dan Sloan, dear friend Kimberly Cade, nephew Bill Sloan (wife Jessie), and grand niece Susan Sloan Nutt (husband Freddie). Eunice touched many people's lives and will be dearly missed. A private burial service will follow at the Cutchogue Cemetery in Shelter Island, Long Island. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Dominic's Village Retirement Center, 2401 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, Texas. Online tributes amy be posted at www.bradshawcarter.com.
