Eugene Namest Obituary

Namest, Eugene "GG" 99, Apple River, IL passed away Monday, July 23, 2018, at Galena Stauss Nursing Home. He was born on January 1, 1919 in Chicago, IL, and was one of eleven children. He enlisted in the Army, January 1942, and received an Honorable Discharge in September of 1945, Bomb Squad 452nd Bomb Group. He married Mary T. Keilhack in 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, they had one child, Patricia A. Italia. Gene worked at Meister Brau in Chicago for 30 + years. After retiring he worked part-time at the Leaning Tower YMCA in Niles, Illinois, until his early 80's. He was head usher at Our Lady Mother of the Church in Chicago, IL. GG enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, and joking around. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia A. Italia (John S); four grandchildren, John A. Italia (friend Alice), Lombard, Illinois, Jessica M. Lincoln (Todd), Galena, Illinois, Megan E. Styba (Jeff), Geneva, Illinois and Katie R. Waver (Anthony), Carpentersville, Illinois; ten great-grandchildren, Ashley and Nikko Italia, Taylor, Alyssa and Mikey Sharkey, Noah and Natalia Waver, Olivia and Emme Lincoln, Mila Styba; two great-great-grandchildren, Christian and Mia Bast; two sisters, Valerie Kotal and Lorraine Wigger. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, William and Julia (Budziak) Namyst; eight siblings, Eleanor E., William J., Martha A., John B., Joan C., Trudy H., Leonard D, and Rosemarie A. Viewing will be held at Holy Cross Parish, Stockton, Illinois on Thursday, July 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Mass to follow. A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at St. Adalbert Cemetery located at 6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 27.
