Oh Gene....how can I even begin to tell you goodbye? I've only known you 6 short years but what a lot of laughs and living we packed into those years! As I look through pictures of our times together, one thing stands out.....you always had a huge smile and I can tell you were truly enjoying the moment. Most people saw you as the joker, the wisecracking Gene, but I had an opportunity to see another side of you...the compassionate caring side. The times we'd sit alone and have a beer. The time we unexpectedly ran into you at Harrah's and you bought all ten of us dinner. The daily back and forth emails I now treasure. Not so long ago, I met you for dinner and what you said to me, I'll never forget. Everybody dies. But not everybody lives. We packed a lot of living into those 6 years. You are now at peace and pain free and what more could I want for my friend? I will miss you. Very much. Thank you Gene, for all that you've given me and everyone around you. I love you. Valerie
