Mears, Esther R. (nee Mason), 92, a longtime resident of Downers Grove and Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully February 26, 2009. She was born August 12, 1916 in Shelbina, MO. Esther attended the University of Illinois where she earned a degree in Education as well as the University of Chicago pursuing a Masters Degree in Education. She had several careers during her lifetime and worked up until the age of 83, often remarking that she had been continuously employed since the day she graduated from college. Esther worked for the National Research Bureau in Chicago for over 20 years as an editor and writer, taught Language Arts at Lincoln Junior High in Downers Grove for 20 years and worked for the Downers Grove Reporter in various capacities until she retired at age 83. She was also a contributing editor and wrote countless articles for the paper as well as being the author of several award-winning short stories. Esther is survived by her daughters Linda Mears Greivell, and Marilyn Mears Tenzer, son-in-law Lee Tenzer, as well as five grandchildren - Leo (Mary) Greivell, Dara Greivell Hudson, Kathryn (Mark) Tenzer McClain, Rebecca Tenzer and Melissa Tenzer, and six great-grandchildren - Robby, Casey, Scotty, Colt, Isabella and Quinn. She was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Lillman. Arrangements are being made by the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S.
