Esther Lajiness Obituary
Esther J. (Suwinski) Lajiness, 98, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Julie Neidhardt, on Friday, October 21, 2022.
She was born December 12, 1923 to Anthony and Pearl Suwinski. She attended St. Anthony's grade school and was a 1942 graduate of Libby High School. After high school, Esther went on to get her Cosmetology license and worked with her sister, Alice, as a Beautician for several years. Esther, along with her sister Alice, loved going dancing at the Palindrome and Trianon Ballrooms.
It was at the Palindrome where she met the love of her life, Morris E. Lajiness. Esther and Morris were married on April 19, 1945 and enjoyed 59 years of marriage together until Morris' death on May 23, 2008.
Esther loved bingo, bowling, dancing, babysitting, and going to Mass. She bowled on women's leagues with her daughter (Denise) and on several Ma and Pa leagues with her husband. Esther was especially proud of her high game of 226.
Esther is survived by her children, Christopher (Sherry) Lajiness, Denise (Timothy) Powers, Julie (Robert) Neidhardt; sister, Christine Gibel; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris E. Lajiness; sister, Alice Verock; brother, Francis Suwinski; brother-in-laws, Donald Gibel and Joseph Verock; and sister-in-law, Marie Suwinski.
Her family wishes to thank her amazing caregivers, Lynn and Nancy, and her hospice caregivers, Anna and Jeanine. A special and grateful thank you to our Friends of the Family, LLC caretaker, Amanda for the last 10 years of such wonderful care for our mom.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. â€" 8:00 p.m. at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania where a Rosary will begin at 7:15pm. Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery on Hill Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Canine Companions, Christ the King Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
