Not sure what to say?

I'm a friend who met Errol in the ABSEA/10-7 groups. I see with surprise that its almost a year since Errol passed, and the loss still pains me deeply. His friendship, wisdom, humor and kindness are still missed every day. In re-reading his guestbook I was surprised to see I hadn't yet expressed my condolences to Errol's dear family. Errol loved you so much and often shared photos along with stories of important events in your lives. During the year prior to Errol leaving us, I lost the love of my life - my husband, two dear colleagues, friend Frank Burns, a father-in-law and finally my own dear father. I think I was in a fog of shock but that is no excuse. Please accept my apologies! Errol will never be forgotten, and will always be close to my heart. Errol's dear family, until you meet him again may you be blessed each day with comfort, strength, and fond memories that make you smile.

It was 6 months ago today that we laid your body to rest in it's final home....though your body is there i know in my heart that you are not. For you live on everyday in Mom and everyone elses heart that you touched. You touched my heart more than you will ever know. As you once told me....anyone can be a father but it takes a special man to be a DADDY! You were special alright..You ARE my daddy. You still do what you did best when I talked to you...you listen. The only difference is that you can't answer right away...I find the answer with your direction. Dad I really miss you!! Whoever said that it gets easier as time goes by truely has no idea what they are talking about. You are my best friend and always will be,whether your body walks the earth or not. I love you and miss you.

Dear Iris and Family,

It is with great sorrow that I write this condolence message, Errol has been a good friend ever since we met both of you in 2004 at the Amara Potentate's Ball. He will be missed by all of the Amara Oriental Band and Glenda and myself in particular.

We feel like we have lost a good friend and a dedicated Mason and Shriner, he loved our Shrine children as much as anyone I know. When we were explaining the Ladder of Smiles, which benefit the Shriners Hospitals and the children in their care, he became a dedicated supporter.

God must have has a project he needed done and he took Errol to do it. Alas My Brother! Till we meet again.

Errol, was more than just a friend to many of us in the law enforcement world, He has stood beside me via internet and phone calls and emails through many things in my life over the years . The one thing that stands out , not too long ago we were discussing our religion and my having not finished my conversion
yet and his reply was that i have been through so much and been working so long that he knows in his heart i am every bit as Jewish in my heart as he is ,even if i havent finished yet .

To me that meant more than the world to me for many many reasons
others may not understand . I am going to finish my conversion and Errol will always be there with me , his adivce in so many other things will be cherished and he will always be loved for who he was and what he gave to us all in his time , humor , advice etc ...

I will greatly miss you Errol.
G-d Bless his family and friends.

Iris and family
I felt very close to the big man and enjoyed his friendship, his wisdom, his warmth, his love of life, his love of and great pride in his family. I knew him through the police groups we both belonged to. We 'talked' of many things in personal e-mails, Freemasonry, police life, family.
He was a fine man, a valued friend. He alwsys had time for others. Farewell, old friend.

I came to know Errol over the past few years as a member of a law enforcement email list. Errol's humor and kindness was always apparent and he will certainly be missed. Here is how he signed the last email I got from him. I think it speaks volumes about him:

***
Live simply, Love generously,

Care deeply, Speak kindly.......

Leave the rest to G-D

Errol

And indeed, Errol is in God's hands now.

I'm a retired police sergeant from CT. Errol and I became acquainted through emails. My daughter and grandchildren live in Chicago, so I was blessed to meet Errol when I went out there. He was a fantastic guy, and my grandchildren were instantly crazy about him. I'm honored that he was such a friend. I'll miss him. My prayers and sympathy to Iris and family.
Thank you for sharing him with his 10-7 "family". He will be deeply missed.
The last few times we chatted, he shared pictures of his sons with pride and love. And Iris, he always spoke of you with so much love that it was an inspiration.
Gods Blessings on you all.

Dominick Donofrio

July 11, 2007

I cannot express the sorrow I have in the loss of Errol. He was like a big brother to me. We had private conversations on the email concerning my family and children. He was a inspiration to my youngest daughter Emily, as she called him Uncle Errol and was thrilled by him sending his cartoon emails and just recently her birthday cards that were animated. I haven't told her yet.
Errol suffered a lot as well as did his wife Iris, who stood by him and helped him back to health, while suffering herself. . God bless her and God Bless the memory of Errol B. Sturt, a hard working, fine retired Police Officer, a loving father and devoted husband.
Thanks for all the good advice Errol, and you know we will meet again.
