Mrs. Sickels was born Aug. 19, 1923, at Mason City to Philip Sheridan and Mona Merle (Davis) Stoddard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Sickels.

Survivors of the immediate family include five daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and David Randolph of Fairfield, Calif., Phyllis and Don Pearson of Kearney, Mo., Linda and Max Boersen of Grand Island, Patricia and Paul Hammond of Broken Bow and LuAnn and Gene Burns of Mason City; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Cliffton of Omaha.

Additional survivors include sister-in-laws, Maxine Sickels of Pasco, Wash., and Jean and husband, Don Oldis of Costa Mesa, Calif.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Philip Wade Stoddard and great-grandson, Keyan Wayne Unick.

She attended Mason City grade school and high school and graduated with the class of 1940. She married Ellis Earl Sickels on April 29, 1943, at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Loup City. They lived 32 years south of Loup City in the Wiggle Creek area. Ellis was killed in a farm accident on May 15, 1975. Erma then moved to her present home in Loup City in 1976. Erma was a farm wife and later worked at Loup City Commission Company for about 20 years.

She volunteered at the Sherman County Senior Center until the present time. She received the Lord as her Savior in September of 1957 and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Loup City and Ladies Missionary Group. She was also a member of the Wiggle Creek Club and Birthday Club. Her hobbies included quilting, embroidery work, growing flowers and listening to Husker football. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. Mom's love for the Lord and her family were her greatest joys in life. She was concerned and cared for many, was a good listener and friend and had a kind word for all.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Sherman County Senior center or donor's choice.
