He will never leave you.Lyle and I weep with sadness of Eric's death, but we smile remembering his smile! He was in your care and keeping for these few years..where he happily shared your love. Dear Mr. And Mrs. Lederman, and your family.
I am writing you to express my sorrow to you in the loss of your son. My own brother died in June, 1978 after being struck in the chest as he slid across home plate on a steal at Thillens Stadium in Chicago. Bobby was supposed to compete at Comisley Park as the 10 year-old champion in the "Pitch, Hit & Run" contest .each year since, norwood Park presents an award in Bob's memory to a 10 year-old player who exhibits both talent and sportsmanship. My life was changed forever, as you know. My sisters, me and my parents were very close over the years. We knew what we meant to each other. I pray you go deeper in faith in God and love than you've ever gone before because you had him. God bless. With love,
Glenn and Judy Steed

Dear Lederman Family,
We have been deeply moved and saddened by the tragic and untimely death of your beloved son Eric. We feel at least a portion of your grief as our son died three years ago, seven weeks before the birth of their first child. Life seems so terribly unfair at times. We so wish we could reach into your hearts and take away the pain.
We know that your lives have been changed forever. Our thoughts and prayers will continue, hoping that eventually - eventually - pleasant memories of Eric's brief but meaningful life will replace such enormous heartache. As you adjust to his absence in your lives, know well that the thoughts and prayers of so very many people will remain with you always.
Sincerely, Glenn and Judy Steed

Eric, I will never forget your smile. You always bring joy to everyone! You were so nice and kind. I still remember in forth grade when we were in the same class...you were so funny!! No one ever thought that this would happen, but you will be missed. Thompson was lucky to have you there. I hope you know that you brought joy to everyone around you, and for me, your life is never-ending. You will be remembered as the genuine person you truly are! <3

I had the pleasure of meeting Eric through Panther baseball , we would occasionally share the field house at the highschool for practice , a few weeks back we held a practice at the same time as his team, my son and i where entering the field house at the same time as Eric and another teammate , wirh our srms full of equiptment , when they had seen my struggles , he held the door for my son and myself to enter , help us in with a smile . While we where all walking to the field house i told him thank you for showing the younger boys the right way to act and to always help out , will for ever be with my son and myself from that one little act of kindness . We will never forget . God has himself an Special person in Eric . God bless the family and friends and panther baseball .

I have had the pleasure and privilege of knowing the Lederman family since the mid 1950's when I was a neighbor of Grandma Lederman in Warrenville (Eric's Great Grandmother) and Brian's uncle Dave was my next door neighbor on the other side. Growing up with Brian, his brother Doug, cousins Dave and Jimmy was truly a wonderful time.
Eric's grandfather Ron Lederman was my baseball coach for many years and Ron was truly a sweet and wonderful man. I saw quite of bit of Ron's personality in Eric when it was my joy to coach him in football. I wish there was something I could do or something I could say that would ease the pain, but sadly all we can give is our condolences and our heartfelt prayers.
So let us pray….”Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord, and may the perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through God's mercy, rest in peace……..Amen”

There is no logic or understanding that we mere mortals can grasp right now. Just know that your child was too precious to keep on earth. God needed him. Every time a child who steps out onto a baseball field, they will do so with Eric in their hearts. Eric will forever be a part of these ball players.....watching over them with his huge infectious smile. He spent 12 years bringing you joy. However short this time might have been, he is now part of heaven's joy.
