I was in Miss Tupy´s 5th grade class in 1971. She was a wonderful teacher. She was kind, always positive and smiling. When you did something wrong or made a mistake she didn´t embarrass you but got you motivated to work through it. She was a gem!!!

Very sorry to lean of Emily's passing. We worked together at Prospect for seven years.

I was a 1964-65 fifth grade student in Ms. Tupy´s very first Prospect School class. The older I get, the more I value that school year and the enormous impact she had upon my life. It was a very happy time, and the way she taught and managed fifth grade was a critical factor. Ms. Tupy had a special gift for motivating us to do better (learning was often harnessed to game-playing), and even more importantly, she assigned projects that helped us connect to what we really cared about. By the time fifth grade ended, I better knew who I was, and I was so much more confident in my abilities. Perhaps the most extraordinary aspect of that year was the community she fostered: we all really liked each other. Education is so pleasurable and so much more effective when camaraderie prevails and everyone is rooting for each other. Ms. Tupy was instrumental in creating such a positive learning environment, and I will always be grateful for the care and commitment she brought to our classroom.
