Gembara, Deacon Emil S. Chairman of the Board, Past President and CEO for 45 years of Washington Federal Bank for Savings in Chicago, WWII Army Veteran, 1st Lieutenant Military Intelligence, beloved husband of Bernadette (nee Potocki) for 48 years, loving father of Janice (Paul) Weston, Michael (Carol), John (Therese) and Robert (Michele), proud grandfather of Jennifer, Jonathan, Joshua, Christopher, Meghan, Catherine, William, David, Amy, Julie, Jordan, Zachary, Mitchell and Jackson, dearest brother of Jerome (late Sally), Edward, Eugene (June), Joseph, Ann (Chester) Mroczek and the late John (Sonia) and dear brother-in-law to many, fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Deacon at St. Alexander Church in Palos Heights for 10 years and formerly at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Chicago for 18 years. Member of many professional organizations including the Financial Managers Society, Southwest Realty Board and past president of the Polish American League for Savings Institution. Emil belonged to many church, professional, community and Polish organizations throughout his lifetime. Lying in state Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Alexander Church, 7025 W. 126th St., Palos Heights, IL with Mass at 11 a.m. Entombment Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation Sunday, 2 to 9 p.m. at John Sheehy and Sons Funeral Home, 7020 W. 127th St. in Palos Heights, IL 708-361-4235
