Elvin Pospahala Obituary

Elvin Richard Pospahala (AKA: "Al, Honey or Pos")

Born January 15, 1927 in Walsenberg, Colorado and died May 7, 2013 in Boulder, Colorado. Age 86. He lived most of his life in Boulder attending school at Whittier Elementary, Casey Jr. High and Boulder High School. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served on the USS Bagley. He also served in the National Guard. He married Lucille "Bullock" Pospahala September 18, 1946. They raised 3 of their 5 children in Boulder. Al had many careers some of which were: fireman at Rocky Flats and the Boulder Fire Dept, National Western Life Insurance and of course construction and masonry. He loved sports and most of his life he played basketball and softball and he was an avid golfer. He was an active volunteer in the Boulder Community. He loved working with kids; he was one of the original organizers for Little League Baseball in Boulder and volunteered at Jamestown and Washington Elementary and Casey Jr. High. He also volunteered at Boulder Community Hospital, Kaiser and the Senior Optimist.

He was preceded in death by his parents - Steve and Bertha Pospahala, his siblings - Edwin, John, William, Robert and Dorothy Mauro and his children - William, Helen and Tom. He is survived by son Tim Pospahala of Boulder, daughter Karen Hodel of Arvada and grandson Justin Spence of Broomfield.

Funeral arrangements are through Crist Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at Ft Logan Cemetery, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11:30am.
